Depending on the inner lining peeing might not be great. Mine has a carpety inside, and I recon if I pee in it, it would stink

Pee away, I have the same and it dosnt stink. My gf would tell me if it did (mine lives in the bathroom )

Myth's dispersed! Cheers all. Now to bloody figure out how to take off the chest zip efficiently. Should of seen me trying it on at the shop. Knocked over the change room panels pulling the leg through. Store owner came past wondering if I was alright

-is it bad to piss in it? (Lets face it, 90% of us do and the other 10 are lying) I read somewhere the acid is bad for the neoprene

- is leaving it in the car damp and in a bucket really that bad? (Besides the hot weather, I've read something to do with the seems etc being stretched or damaged).

Have been really looking after this wetsuit, a rinse after and letting it hang in the shade has been the protocol. Cost me an arm and a leg! So hoping it will last a couple seasons

My advice: If you are rinsing it out after every use then pissing in it will be of no real consequence other than perhaps it stinking a bit.

Not sure why you would leave it in a bucket or in the car but I wouldn't recommend it.

Hanging in the shade is the way to go. Have to completely disagree with JB's hanging in the sun to dry. UV's are the worst things for most materials and neoprene is no exception. Just make sure you hang it by draping it over a coat hanger and not hang it by the shoulders when wet. The weight of the wet wetsuit can cause stretching/damage to the neoprene supporting it.

Grab up some wetsuit wash if you can. RipCurl do one called PissOff but there are others. I get a bottle for $8 and use a cap full. No rinsing required and if you're pissing in it it will help with getting rid of the stink.

I just rinse mine when i get to work and hang out in the sun. Once dry turn it inside out and hang till completly dry. Then back in car. Onto my second season no issue.

Rod

+1 Full rinse in a hot shower... hang on a fat ended 'suit' hanger full length in the sun inside out and then turn-out the proper way to finish drying. Store by chucking on the floor in the spare room. I always get at least 3yrs out of my wetties - and I only buy mid priced Billabong.

NB: I never leave it in the sun for more than a couple of hours. UV can't be that bad for it - after all, it's out in the sun when in use half the time.

Where do you use it the other half of the time?

Whats that? Deep in the tube

I agree to leave in the shade to dry is best, but i don't often get that luxury and i figure I'd prefer it dry sooner rather than later. I make sure i dry both side as well. Once its dry i take out out of sun but my point was it still lasts me at least a few seasons

Always piss in my suit..But i do have a rear zip suit that lets water in. Sadly i'm claustrophobic and there's no way i could handle a chest zip suit and i understand they are alot more water resistant. The other weak my zip jammed and i started to trip badly

But don't let the cat piss on it..[}:)]

I've pissed in every wettie on every surf I have ever had I reckon and I have never noticed the wetsuit smell as a result of it, mind you I only pee in it while in the water unlike some people here! Modern day wetties create a little discomfort though as it traps it in for a long time, that feeling of it washing around inside the suit isn't the best at times!!

Pee away. I had my wettie for 3 seasons before it blew out in the bicep area in December 2011 while freediving for crays. I can safely say I pissed in it almost every sesh and it never smelt or had any 'acid' degradation.

As for taking care, well I use to take it into the shower with me at home after my session and rinse it well and then leave it to drip dry in the shower. Then when ever I would remember I would just hang it up outside in a shady spot that got the breeze. Hanging out in direct sunlight for long periods of time is sure to cause some UV damage over the lifetime of the wettie.

On a side note, pulled into Trigg this morning on my way home from a morning work call out. If I had a wettie I would have gone in. Despite how rarely I use them I am starting to get sick of being frozen stiff in the surf. Getting too many cramps

Sit on your board, do a pee, then lay down a paddle and you should feel a warm sensation all over your lower back hahaha! Has been the case with my last 2 e-bombs anyway It might not stay warm all that long, but it definately lingers a hell of a lot longer than it used too!

A good whizz also helps loosen the wetsuit if it starts pulling up your ass - especially in onshore conditions

From this thread looks like a good rinse after every sesh and hanging in the shade should last me for a while then!

That's what it says on the label.

If you want it to dry quicker roll it up in a towel for half hour before hanging it up.

Yeaaaaah should probably have a read next time Will keep an extra towel in the boot now SP. Loving the new wetty though and discounted 350 from 530, think I've done a good deal taking JB's advice to shop around. Cannot emphasize building a good rapport with your local surfstore honestly!

Haha Chrispy, not all of us have struck gold like you mate!

they say not to piss in your suit but I admit I do. when its freezing out there I really dont want to run out, get out of my suit and take a piss.

what sort of Oneill suit did you get? been looking at them but never tried them before

Cant say enough good things about the Oneill RG8 chest zip wetties. Sensational. Takes a few surfs to get used to getting them off. (its all in pulling down a little bit around your torso)

Bought a 3/2 then got a 5/3 start of winter for kiting. 5/3 Feels like a 3/2 and the 3/2 like a lycra suit. Never been so warm in a suit and no dreaded cold trickle on your first few duck dives.

Couple of hints

1. They really waterproof - when you p1ss in them it stays till you take it off

2. Dont take a multi vitamin before a surf/kite - its a horrible shade of green when you take your suit off.

3. Rinse your suit after surf in the salt water and dry in the shade over a chair or pref a clothes hanger when you get home. It will last heaps longer if you dont use fresh and especially dry in shade (tip from shop owner several years ago and my wetties last really well now)

Piss away, especially if you are still in the carpark and there a some people around. Nothing beats pissing in your wetsuit, but an extra dimension of joy is added when you can simply relax and let the good times/warmth flood your loins without anyone being any wiser to the fact that you are indeed pissing yourself. Trust me on this, one of lifes simple pleasures is pissing in your wetsuit, either in the carpark (obviously before surfing) or in the water

haha eventually. gotta learn how to use my first one yet and then when i get there i will surely get more. would be good to have a nice collection

gonna have to look at the oneill rg8 sounds pretty sweet just gonna have to try a few chest zips first to see if comfortable. i like the idea of the zip being easy to reach unlike a back zipper at times and when your out alone i dont want to get stuck haha

never thought of pissing my wetsuit before a surf but will have to trust you on that hamsta. i guess gotta keep warm somehow and not much you can do when waiting for a wave

Yes I did mean wash it in the salt water as the salt is a better preservative that fresh if it doesnt dry properly.

TO CLARIFY - Only need to wash it if you've p!ssed in it - otherwise as Swalkington said, just hang it out to dry in shade

Ive always rinsed mine out with fresh water and it aways dries out nice and quick. I find when rinsed with salt water it tends to stay damp. I have an Oneil.
