What's going on at Tom's break? Almost 10 sightings in the past week less than 100 metres offshore. Someone wanting the break to themselves or have these reports been verified?
I'd go with the former, Manfish. Though with the numbers in the water, if there was a man in a grey suit, it'd surely be seen by at least 80 guys.
I got footage of it today, it's no 3.5m White more like a 2.1m Bronzie. Will load it up to youtube later.
And it's back!!! But this time it's got a mate
Watermans to Toms closed by lifeguards due to 2 X 2m Bronzies
tomorrow there will be 4.

The only dodgy report (apparently) has really been the one earlier one in the week that stated a 3.5 mt great white. A mate had his drone out the other day and he also videoed a small bronzy maybe. I have questioned the validity of reporting a 2m bronzy though Ive seen tigers that size and not reported them but Toms has had a report everyday virtually of the school holidays..
Fisheries have however been patrolling the area, with drum lines onboard their boat with intentions of trying to catch a shark if they see one
Oh and its worth noting apparently their has been an big increase in rec fisherman targeting sharks of the North Beach jetty. Heavy burl-eying and baiting for what thats worth..Maybe thats why the small ones have been hanging around, there has also been Salmon seen in the area..
It's Smot, no such thing as good waves. You might struggle with the footage on a smart phone.
Verified thanks
And again
Really their must be something in this I wonder if any of the locals are finding the crowds a little less due to the constant reports Or is the system just working the way it is meant too

Would a 6ft bronzy stop you paddling out with a rpela on??
Would a 6ft bronzy stop you paddling out with a rpela on??
SP the Rpela is not designed like that. They are intended to give you an option to retreat if you needed to. They don't suggest you use it to paddle out into a pack of sharks or if a large shark was seen.
But to answer your question I'm not sure. I have surfed with a tiger shark around that size but it quickly left and we just stayed in the water. I even had my kids with me. I didn't feel threatened as it was chasing mullet.
My point has been more along the lines of everyday there has been a report at this beach or for a 1km stretch of beach. Either its a not new and just being reported for once, OR its new and something is making it stay close.?
There has been a lot of people reporting shark fishing from the same area, I'm curious if maybe the sharks are being drawn in by something? i have heard reports before of fishermen dumping large carcuss in the water over periods of time but really only at remote locations. Could something like this be happening here is what i was wondering

Cool, was just interested how confident you were with it.
Didn't really mean seeing one and then paddling out more like would the sightings put you off surfing? Say going for an early the day after there was a sighting in the afternoon.
Bronzy's will scare ya but they won't eat ya...
if scaring you mean tearing limbs from you, well then yes you are correct....otherwise im sitting here giving myself a facepalm

Yeah thats cool. I love the unit. It makes me feel real at ease. Its hard not to get caught up in the hype sometimes. Especially when one day i was walking down the stairs at my local (Totally on my own and not real day light yet) i lady started screaming at me not to go out, "id be eaten by a shark" That entire surf i sat their annoyed i hadn't had one in the board i was using. After that surf i booked all my board in. That was two days before Doreen was attacked an killed 800 m from were i was surfing
The continues sightings daily have me puzzled though. I think there is something going on that needs addressing. Today again the alarm was sent in. Firstly for a 3.5 mtr shark and then 20 minutes later for another 2.3 mtr at the same spot. I think the first one was just people exaggerating and i would say it proves they do. I just cant for the life of me understand why all the sightings. They are i believe legitiment, many of them have had pictures or video as Smicko showed above. But I'm starting to think something is out of whack.. and i have no idea, so just keep banging on i guess, until i get some idea at least..
I was hoping someone in here may have an idea..

Im not sure how i feel about Bronzies either. I feel more comfortable with Tigers from all my research.
Bronzes have been implicated in at least a few attacks. First was Brad Smith (I think that was the one with two sharks one said to be a Bronzie) and the second was Esperance with Sean Pollard. Yes the offical report is Great Whites but it was originally called for Bronzies. I think a 2.5 mtr one would scare the absolute crap out of me.. Mind you a big seal will often see me bolting to the beach..
