7 foot is extra length? Lol. My boards start at 6'10" these day and go from there.

For me its almost an extra foot.

Im 90kgs and can surf anything up to around a solid 5ft on my 6'2 before I start sliding around and need more rail.
I can handle 10ft no probs at all on my 6'7 but saying this it would be a totally different story if I wasn't fit.
Fitness is key!!!

Being honest I don't enjoy it as much when its that big. Guess I'm not HARDCORE enough lol.

Maybe you would enjoy it more with a bigger board. Just because you can do something doesn't mean it's easy or being done in the optimal way.

10ft on a 6'7 is pretty hardcore - no one I know surfs waves that big on a board that small.

Yea , Quite possibly mate. There is definitely a comfort issue involved with extra length and volume especially with paddling and catching waves. Its a shame they dont perform the same .
Anyway , sorry to hijack thread HA..... back to singlefins

**** that at 10ft I'm all about survival not performance...get in early and point it for the channel...sometimes I even keep my eyes open for the trip

I reckon my new stick would handle 6-8foot no worries; Plenty of paddling power with speed to burn!!

Wow! You can paddle a 6'7 into 10ft surf? What's the dimensions? Would have to be 4" thick hahaha! You're a machine

Check this out Kearnsy. This is a mate who's about to get the beating of his life to this very day. He was on a 6'10 (I think?). After that day he got a 9'2

Yeah but Occy is a world class surfer. Elite equipment in any sport is not suitable for normal participants in my opinion. Some of it is fun, but the peak performance unobtainable to the general public; some of feels good, yet hinders the performance levels of the general public.

I reckon most people are underfoamed, but if Fanning or Occy can ride it surely they can too I guess.

Got to agree. He was an absolute legend in his day - he could do things most of us can only dream of
