yeah, ive been looking for some hot tuna gear for a while but I dont think they sell it in Australia. Ive been on their website but not much luck.
You can get it in the UK and US no problem though...
anyway back to the 90s
Christ! Give him a set of national geo tits down to his bellybutton and he'd look like that old tart out of There's Something About Mary.
Back on track with the thread though.... Hot Tuna 8108's were the coolest boardies ever made. Wore two pairs to rags and then went to buy more and they were no more.
Not too often that I'm a victim of marketing but 8108's had me at hello. Maybe it was the fact that they had the chick from the Ants Pants ad campaign as their poster girl.
And for those of you don't recall...
ahh..loved that ad^^^^^...
classic memories from an awesome era, its been unreal to read all the stories. I had an HZ panelvan back then, well I started with the HJ and moved up to the HZ, but was the ultimate . The classic shaggin wagon, always had room for the boards though. We used to get that beast up n down all the tracks from wedge to bears, it still amazes me to this day how we did it!!
A mate of mine had a beetle that we took down south on occasions. During the TEE exams of our final year(slightly short of the 90s,1986 but you get the idea ), 3 of us not having any exams, did a trip down south, and lived off stealing crates of 1 litre soft drink bottles, and cashing them in at various shops down there (stealing NOT good kiddies), i think a crate was worth $13.We would do the old angel gear everywhere to save fuel, and we were lucky to come across other cars on the roads, let alone other surfers in the water. 9 days Ill never forget!!
still 6 groups to come... I was most impressed by the wetty gel, remember the rash you would get pre-rashy days! The products are designed for the 90's due to the play they are studying being set in 1994. They also produced the products for us to see and these are on display in my classroom. The sales pitch's were done brilliantly with plenty of savvy marketing skills on display (all students dressed to impress) and not a pony tail or shoulder pad in sight! Legion your help will be acknowledged once the presentations are completed on Wednesday.
also in case you were wondering.. the students were given a basic shoe(white canvas from Kmart) and asked to adapt to suit the surfer's needs, most chose a concept based on a post(think it was Legion) that talked about getting out at Cathedrals and tying volleys to a cray float. I gave them two bottles of Mount Franklin water and asked them to brand the water and turn the other bottle into a product of their choice.
The two that presented this one where dressed in uggies and flanno's!! Thought I'd add a few of their photos as well, should bring back some memories boys!
