My first time out, very light variable wind at the train. I did manage to get up on one gust but didn't stay up long, a few meters before rolling the edge in. Stayed on the board though. The old thommen carbon course race XXL is 80 wide and 175l. The wind needs to be a good 12 knots + to get up on the 6.0 convert. I haven't had to worry about pitch, Roll and yaw since learning to fly in the 70's. I'd certainly appreciate an elevator trim control.... Looks like I'll be building the shoulder and arms muscles up with the lack of harness .. Anyway, still smiling ??and loving it!
Can anyone tell me the thickness of the rear wing adjustment washer on the pryde al?
1.3mm
I found it a touch to thick so I made tome plastic shims so I could use a thinner trim washer
Bit of milk / coke bottle or plastic cup should make a good enough washer just stack them to the desired thickness.
There's a few here in Perth- 3 that I know off and a few coming...
me and scarrgo a couple of months ago on my first attempt, scarrgo on the red below..
First attempt? So how would you rate it? Was It worth it? And what did you buy, the prize variance is really high.
A year later and I wish I'd started back then. Life is too short.
So those who have their Zeeko Windfoils in the August batch be happy.
those who are in the September batch sorry for the wait. It'll be worth it.
This looks great too but how much?
All manufacturers have claims about their foils but which ones are real?
Wedge & winglets? True or False or both

Can anyone explain the difference in the carbon, this one above for $1950US and others for the price of a new carbon pro weight slalom board.
How do we as the consumer know what we are getting and if its really any good? Bit like electronics out of china without a recognized brand name.
Naish is still the one for me if i get around to it.
Looks real windy where the LP is being used too.
Do your homework as a lot of foils rushed onto the market are breaking, mainly in the fuselage area.
Naish is it for me.mine should be here any day now. They are only going to get better . thrust 2 is probably getting redesigned ready for next season.who knows how these foils will evolve.
Spent the day reinforcing the finbox area today. I filled the void in the top of the box, glued a 5mm alloy plate 200x100 to the top of the board and fixed a bottom plate 300x200 using s/s threaded rods thru the board top to bottom. The plates should take the load rather than the finbox on its own. I'm thinking I might change the front Bolt to a 5/16" for a bit of extra strength when I run aground ??The threads on the mast and bolts have already needed cleaning. I'm going to need a better quality antiseize compound to combat the electrolytic corrosion problem. Looks like I'll be trying it out again tomorrow.

Really, perhaps you may wish to consider that some manufacturers have been at it for more than the last five minutes.
"LP Composites, Inc., was created in 1995 when two individuals with a shared passion for composites joined forces".
At the end of the day Rick, your choice is your choice. You made it very clear when we spoke at Kyeemagh that you said that the foil in front of you was an old idea that dragged up weed and mooring lines. I will leave it at there. Please, I also ask that you do as well.

Wind, not fair, okay, I piked out after two runs on the LP. The wind was from 12 to 30 knots plus (unexpected). I knew my limits, I was on a new style (formula) board and out of my depth on foot strap and board control. Handed it to a pro and he had the foil lit with a Severne 6.7 Convert and looked really well in control for the pro's first time on a foil.
End of the day, I'll say this. After spending more than five grand on foils, choose well, if you can try before you buy. If not, read widely and carefully, not all foils are the same. Remember, if you can't break it down easily to clean and lube it, DON'T BUY IT, it'll freeze with corrosion, then you're stuck.
Safe and fun foiling Parked.

Did I say all manufactures? I was just saying to looking around and try before you buy.
i was not talking about any particular brand.
And I've got no idea what you are talking about with your weed and mooring lines story.

What Parked said.
Have the pryde al foil and after hitting rocks can report that my finbox reinforcement works and the g10 wings are tough! The damage is superficial and will sand easily. The screws seizing is a problem and the supplied Allen key is of poor quality and stripped fairly easily. Luckily I have a decent long series one in the shed. I'll be re applying anti seize compound EVERY time I assemble it and I'll be stripping it regularly. (After each session) I've already had to retap the head threads to clean gunk out of the threads and clean threads on the screws. All in all I'm happy with the al foil, its robust and the water clarity in our area and water depths are a problem.

Hi Parked, I didn't mean to have a dig at the excessive wind and foiling. NB Ive not been on one yet.
Some interesting (other) comments about the supplied hardware, bit of a shame that we could be let down by cheap hardware in out $2k foil. I will replace it all when i buy one with quality Ti threads.
I have a 2017 board coming but its not foil ready, price was too good to say no to, but I can give it a go if i want as it has the correct dimensions.
I hope to see one on the water when I'm in perth next month.
How did you come across the LP foil?
Cheers Dave
Looking good Sides, spectacular from the drone. What is your setup and what was the wind strength?
Cheers

Cheryl was flying as well on a pryde ali but with a 5.8 which was too small in the lulls, she was flying though and only after 2 attempts!
