Yeah there was freesail and sailboard extra back then. Monthly mags I think. That was the thunderbox reading material when I was a grom. Shiz I must be getting old!

awesome guys this is what australia needs, at the moment there is no way to communicate with all the windsurfers out there and that has massive ramifications for the sport.

This forum works rather well for communicating with windsurfers around Australia But yes it is great news to have a magazine out there again.

No it doesn't actually - its one of the problems, it only reaches a certain chunk. I know there are a lot of sailors who don't 'check' seabreeze forums :)

Great to see the positive response. It was interesting reading that thread a while back on the lack of Australian windsurfing mags. I for one am a bit sick of reading the same old stories in every issue of the international mags. Australia has so much diversity and a lot of epic spots that would make for interesting reading. Now we have had a great opportunity pop up so we are running with it!

The first issue is a short one to get the ball rolling - it is currently finishing up with printing. Pretty sure it will be available in a little over a week. Definitely hard copies!
We are working on getting the website updated and fully functional, and there will also be an app with interactive features.

Right now we are collecting content for Issue 2 - please contact me if you have any great pictures or stories that you are keen to share.
Also for any brands/importers/shops that are interested in advertising opportunities please get in touch as well.

Awesome work Al! Really looking forward to the first copy! Hopefully we'll have a few gags worthy to make a story from Freestyle Nationals

Hi guys,

Sorry for late reply. Subscribers, your copies were posted today so you should get your copies early next week.
Each of you have received a free edition of Kite Mag as well.
Shops should have their copies by the end of the weekend.
Mags should be in newsagents Australia wide by end of next week.
This mag has gone from idea to product in three months, we have started which is always the hardest thing to do with magazines.
In that time we have received strong subscription sales and fantastic story and image leads for our next edition.
Im stoked that we can publish for this awesome community, please get in touch with your feedback on the mag, (good or bad) we want to hear it all and make the next edition even better for you.
Also big thanks to Al McLeod for working his arse off to make this happen. Also thanks to Laurie for providing this forum so people can get in touch

Thank you

George

Well done George, Al and Ben. Subscribed via the "pocketmags" Windows 8 app and looks great. Also works on android and iphone for the single price. $10.99 for a 4 issue digital subscription is a bargain.

Keep up the good work, and looking forward to a green island story in the next issue!

If you are a poley and don't want a free kite mag please take it to your local library, school or give it to a friend who may be interested.
There will be no kitesurfing stories in the windsurfing mag or vice versa.
Try and keep the vibe positive waveslave, remember this is the first time in 10 years that there has been a locally created magazine. In this economic climate and changing media landscape this is a massive achievement and a great step in the right direction for the sport of windsurfing.

Hoops,

There's no hate, mate.

My post was plainly satirical.

You know, like sarcastic humour.

Get it ?

Free kite mags to the poleys ... possibly a worthless gift.

Trinkets to the Indians.

lol.

Wow, 10 years is a very long time. ^^^

But then again ...

During that same period, local windsurfing had never been off the radar screen.

The forum, thanks to seabreeze.com.au, filled that void with ease.

Good luck with the mag.

What's it called again ?

WIND ??

I'll check it out sometime at the local papershop.

I'm holding off my paper subscription until I hear if there is a centrefold!!

Nah, seriously, I really am. If there is a full page photo already printed out for me to laminate and hang in my shed like this - then I will sign up immediately!
I love that we have a mag again - superb work guys, and thanks heaps.

I'm sure I had more posters on my wall as a kid, but can only find these few. I've still got all the mags without posters, so they're somewhere...
