Hey All..
I've ordered a new custom board for the summer and I need a paint job for it, My creativity is a bit lacking so I thought I'd put it to the imaginative people here at Seabreeze. What do you win? I have no idea but you will get your design on a custom board with appropriate accreditation and I'll come up with some sort of prize for the winner in appreciation for your hard work.
Let the creative juices flow....
I like it as-is.
Easy to repair when dinged.
Stays cool.
Enviro friendly as less paints and pigments are used.
Do I win?
(BTW I don't like the shape, move the wide point forward a tad)
ok this should be easy..
Just answer these 2 questions.
Pick some colours no more than 3.
Have you seen anything you like, don't have to be another board could be a pattern on anything really..
I would love to try this mehtod with a board. Main problem is getting bucket big enough for a board and sinking the board.
Ok, The prize for the winner will be a GoPro wifi + Remote bacpack kit or if that's no good to you, you can pick a Makani fin of your choice up to the value of $150. The winner will be picked by me and must have the right to use the graphics or design supplied and grant me unconditional use of the design or graphic. No correspondence shall be entered into over the chosen design as it's my board and I'll do what ever I want with it. If I don't like any of the designs then so be it, I reserve the righ to withdraw the competition and prize at anytime.
....that said I hope someone comes up with a unique and interesting board design for me to use.
This is a genuine offer for someone to score themselves a cool prize for little effort, I thank you in advance for your participation.
Cheers Jason.
That's a very generous prize.
You should get some good entries.
It would help if you could give a bit of a design brief.
What colours do you like? What colour are your sails?
Do you have any vague ideas of style you would like?
What you don't like?
I fired up paint and gave it a go.
Hmmm in my head it looked better (doesn't everything look better in your head... )
I'm not really sure what's possible when painting the board, but maybe you get inspiration from it. A face will definitely draw attention.
short explanation:
Some type of green rasta dude, the straps are the eyes and the crack between the front teeth.
I think this design would work great on a freestyleboard
greetings from belgium
Yeh I don't have a design but I'm just glad your getting a new board ,your quiver was looking a bit thin . I thought you had all bases covered already. Here is an equation to tell you how many boards you need . N+1 where N stands for the amount of boards you already have
If you like colour, here's a design from a board I made in the '80s. I'm pretty sure I copied it from one of Robby Naish's boards
Here are some concepts thrown together by me in all haste just for the fun of it! I can alter anything you like :)
3 contrasting ideas??? The handprint idea was one I came up with after being given a homemade (glassed only - no graphics) sup for my kids. I told them that we'd grab some sample pots & they could go nuts.
this is an old one - and a few of you will have seen this already
but a watch through may give you some ideas that you can develop from
Don't know how talented your board artist is but I think the White Album is good.
Part of the appeal of customs is the paint, unfortunately by the time it comes to artwork I'm over it..
But here's my entry. It'll go great with the rest of your quiver Jase.
Some really great ideas there guys, keep them coming....
Barn, As diplomatic as ever but your artwork just keeps getting better....How's the new boards going? Water tight this time I hope?
Funky Jas does some great work and I wish I was close enough to get him to do the job, I've never seen a board he's painted that I don't like.
...anyways the board has started construction this week, So I have a little more time to think about the paint job. The board is from OES and is new for 2013 and it's called a "Smack Quad", I was supper impressed by last years "Ice Quad" that I had no hesitation going with OES again. As most know I have heaps of boards from wave to freeride but I'm always looking at something different. I read something on-line about a board that OES was working on that was going to suit on-shore conditions, That was heaps loose and able to do all the new wave orientated freestyle stuff(Not that I can do it). I wanted a wave board, Skatey and loose but with volume under my feet and the pop of a freestyle board, Something that I can use in the waves but is also a super bump and jump board...An all rounder you might say.
Here's what they had to say about it...
The new 2013 Smack Quads will have a super short length and wide width with wide rounded nose and swallow tail outline, with more of a veed bottom and not so heavy concave bottom, to give them more slide and skate for more freesytle on a onshore waves.
The Smack ,with their shorter, curvier outlines, that will fit into any size wave pocket. Can be ran as a twin fin if you need even a looser ride.
Here's the dimensions for those that are interested, Pete reckons it will be sweet up to about 25knots....Perfect for the east coast.
Smack Quad 102, Length 229cm/ 7'6”, Width 62cm/ 24.5”, Volume 102L
....I think I'm getting exactly what I was after.
I'll upload some picks during the build process.
Keep the paint coming, Thanks all for your efforts.
Jason.
