Mistral is alive and well, your second hand info is wrong!!

Mistral didn't go broke? loose their team riders along with Neilson and all their shapes? Then Anders bought the M to add spark to his AB+ boards?

Found this while trying to find a picture of Teriitehau's Hummer.. What are all those long shafts doing tied to the cars?

I'm sure many of us older dudes remember the days when you couldn't fit a mast inside your ride young fellah. I remember seeing mine come flying off the roof of my Hiace and then run over by a truck on a trip to Lennox back in about '90/91... jeez we used to even repair those suckers relatively successfully.

If you are so enlightened why don't you just save us the trouble and tell us the 'real' story? As far as I know the controlling interests in Mistral International BV have always been the same, however, the windsurfing boards side of the business was formerly licensed out to Boards & More who's license was not renewed in '09...for what ever reason, financial etc I really have nfi. Anders is now the holder of this license, I assume it was not given to him for free but tbh I really have nfi of the dealings behind it.

Righteo keeper of secrets, this doesn't sound like the funnest game ever, but I won't back down from an internet challenge..

Mistral circa 2009 = gone

Mistral 2011 = AB+ with mistral sticker.

Every beach in the northern hemisphere was alive with talk mistral had gone under, I know Brawzinho, although I wasn't there when he went to Fanatic, thanks to social media, everyone knew what happened. mistral were no longer, Brawzinho joined the exodus of everything else mistral in 2009..

Boards and more sold mistral windsurfing to Anders. They did this after it went belly up. If mistral was worth anything, would Anders buy them, gut the company of everything except the M to stick on his boards?.. No..

Baker, Nelson, Browne, 2009 range, circa 2009 graphics and logo design, The rights to the 2009 movie Committed Reloaded, all gone..

in 2009 mistral looked like this, cool..

website

2009 range

They had awesome shapes, trick graphics, elite team riders, world championships, and sweet product movies. This does not come cheap, and it is common knowledge that Mistral 'went out with a bang'.

You can read between the lines in this interview with Anders,
http://www.boardseekermag.com/features/windsurfing-equipment/mistral-and-anders-bringdal-110.html

My best mate Max got some free boards of Anders in 2010, They were heavy, ugly and didn't qualify for the PWA comps because they weren't registered production boards.. Max dubbed it the 'Giant Swiss Army Knife', and quickly jumped ship.

Here is what you get when you type mistral 2010 into google.. AB+ anybody?

So thats a summary of Mistral windsurfing boards fall from grace, of course I have only been talking about the board range, not anything else under the Mistral umbrella..

You could argue Mistral is alive and well, you could also argue the Fitzroy Lions are alive and well in Brisbane, they aren't..

Boards and More held the licence for Mistral Windsurfing as well as Fanatic, North, F2, Arrows etc. Cobra has always had a problem with Boards and More about one company controlling most of the windsurfing industry, endless problems with model changes, materials etc. So Boards and More decided to split the company up and keep North, Fanatic and ION only. Mistral International asked Anders to do a line of boards for them as windsurfing is Mistral's grass roots. Neither Mistral or Boards and More went broke. Can we now get back to "Maui Windsurfing Trucks"

That doesn't look like the windsurfing truck I remember. Have you polished it or something?

Here is a good economy measure. (I cant find the link, but some clever person will I am sure.)
Ford sell something like 1 Ftruck world wide ever 1 minute, or 1 every 3 minutes.(cant remember exactly) 24/7
However the first thing noticed when the economy has potential to slow down, the sales of the F trucks starts to slow well in advance of any other area.
Oh, and dont rave too much about F trucks, as over there they are considered the "el cheepo" run of the mill truck. They dont have any where near the loyalty support they do here in Aus.

What day and date did you take the photos?

I think I may have been caught in the cross fire in the 4th photo!!!

That is the green Chrysler Town & Country I rented from Kimo's Rent-a-Car from the 06.07.11 to the 19.07.11

Hey Divaldo ...... Not the truck, the crapped out mini van to the left of picture.
Did you have a good time while you were there. Were you sailing down at Kanaha?

No way, the green truck just coming into picture, good spot! Yep sailed kanaha most days, Kym had a crack at hookipa, she loved it. Best Maui trip ever. Apparently the wind was a bit lighter than previous years? How did you go?

How could I miss that scabby looking nose in your photo!!!!!
The Beast was top unit for $140 per week.
The wind was very light for the first week, but it gave us time to do other things.
Had a great time.

Cheers

JP and Starboard would like to say hello..

Mistral weren't making any money, the name was sold for a song to Anders.. They blew money on their 'image' and it didn't pay off.. Simple.

cool story tho..

The guy cleaning it was his gardener....

Good old Robert also brought back to Noumea a huge chevy 6 wheel ute....only to realize that under french laws you need to hold a truck driver's licence.... so he went back to his bmw M3
