As an interested observer it's great to see you so keen to get out on a modern board

do you still have the other shortboard you tried - ?mistral? Just don't want to see you rush this and undo all the hard work you are doing

cheers Jeff

Hey guys, mix ratios im using are exact. I use 20ml syringe for resin n 10ml for hardener. Do the 4:1 thing accurately. Temps not lower than 20'C.
As Mark suggests im just TOO keen. All looks great otherwise.
Previous experience was with poly laminating resins. Used to quick curing.
Thanks again for advising me fellas.
Hope you are getting some hooked in blastin action...

Gday Jeff, ive got a few olskool 90s things. Metal Rock lasted a day under my hefty backfoot. Rolled the finbox. Its gone to sailboard heaven now. Next in line is a Mistral Vision 161. Dont really like that thing.
If its decent FAN ON i use the ol Speed SS125L. Goes ok, but a pita to gybe.
So im content to fang around on my SPEED F1 RB. Its easy riding n quite fast as well. Dare to be different.
IM POSSESSED BY THE WIND

Put your mast base further back,
that'll help with the catapults

^^^ agreed
Even a spin-on base maybe if u need to, as that two bolt one will only allow u to centre the base

Ok will give it a razz! Thanks for the tuning tips guys.
Got into the straps a few times n got it really going. But it was prone to catapulting just trying to get it there. Surprising how quck it can fling my 105kg around like a rag doll.

yep that what happens to me ,its like you bear away to get on the plan ,lift your front foot as the board goes over the bow wave does this wobble from back foot pressure ,tah dah, catapult.the xcite seems to do this more than all the other boards

That's why they call them Xcite rides , because it's exciting getting catapoooolted. Seriously it's my favourite board and I have a few and it's no more catapulty than any others of this type.

I find the opposite with mine. Being a freeride they are quite progressive to plane., not fussy like a slalom board.

Probably too late with this reply, id say wrong resin ratio or most likely not enough cure time, sanding "green" resin isnt good for your health, the longer you can leave it the better or you could bake it for 2 hours.

Hey guys ,id say its a great board. Using 50cm fin n 8m Cheetah. But jumping from a 3.6m 250l 1990s raceboard, onto 2.5m 130l Xcite is a whole different EVERYTHING....
What im experiencing is just gumby learning ways, i guess.
Any tuning tips appreciated. Seems my boom needs to be lower than on my RB setup. Read something like 'one hand width from tail of board' ??
Mastrack position ??
Footstrap position for 50cm supersport fin.(im 105kg-189cm) Felt like rear couldve been wider??

Yeah id use a single thread mast base so u can move it all the way back. Its better for everything this way unless it gets bouncy and out of control then move it forwards. Especially with big cammed sails and our larger sexy bodies that tend to hold boards down.

Way over finned - the standard one was 42 or 44.
It will be fine for that 8m at lower end but once planing well, it will be a lot to handle

IMHO (not much of a freerider)

Yes because they are shorter ,you have to ez them on a bit slower to get them going ...but you will enjoy the lively feel compared to a longie.

nose job .looks good .enjoy the ride .

Yep, ive got 44cm Stocko 48cm stocko n 50cm supersport thing. Wind was light n just wanted it to plane easily, minimal schlogging.

I've taken the easy option this weekend...

1. Formula nose job. Well, best left unsaid

2. iSonic 90L has cracks on rail to inboard perhaps from an unintended 1m jump of some nasty cross chop with hard landing. Odd wound. Carbon layup after sanding. Don't forget to sweep the sand out of your boot for that glitter effect.

3. iSonic 121L had a few dents from the mast (foiling like a neewbie), but seemed to survive better than the formula! Glass Matt to match the colour better.

This one requires more skill than I have...

Berowne, that formula/foil board is punished!! Headbutting rockbars?or is this Welcolme to catapult city? KEEP IT LIKE IT IS. Probably dont need nose when foiling. Just glass over whats there. Its as good a TROPHY as ive seen.
