Yeah, if I get to do a lot of sailing, I don't need gloves. Never used them before this year anyway. I just wanted to sail a lot on Maui, and I didn't want to trash my hands on the first day. I found em easy to use, so I still utilise them when it suits me. Again, just another tool in the box. Sandy booms can be pretty abrasive.
I like my soft hands too. I touch people a lot as part of my job, so big gnarly calluses are not too welcome. I just don't get enough wind to get em anyway.
The vid was a humorous response for you, as well as being more evidence of my Loaded slut-dom.
I got sick of regripping my old formula boom, so I regripped my hands instead. NP gloves fit like a... well, you know.
Thanks for the replies friends!
It seems gloves protect the hands but add to boom diameter increasing forearm strain, plus reduce sensitivity.
To clarify my situation -
In windsurfing season I always get a callus on my palm where my fourth fingers join the palm. On Friday after sailing %50 further than usual I lost 2 layers of skin there rather than the usual one, and I had blisters in other places on my hands too. My hands were sore for a couple of days. I know I hang on too tightly, that's a habit which will be hard to break. As a lady I don't want calluses, or sore hands, but I don't want to spend money on gloves if they're a nuisance and will be discarded. I already have a skinny grip boom. These uveto gloves sound good.
use super glue. Rub it on your hands and it gives u an extra layer, also good for sorting out blisters/cuts etc. Surgeons use it.
Edit:let it dry first before touching your penis and anything else for that matter.
I find i get bigger callouses from going to the gym then windsurfing.
Maybe your harness lines aren't spot on so your front or back hand is pulling too hard.
I move my lines every time i go out for the conditions. It might only be 5mm or 10mm forward or back but it does make a difference
Just cruising along you should be able to sail with 1 hand on the boom with very little pressure.
