Further 'correction' & clarifications re the new GLIDE windsurfer board noted in posts several days ago.
I've spoken to Bruce K and he has allowed me post the following :

"Yes there is only one board & it is rather thick.>> The 220 volume was some ones estimate when graphics were done and before we built a water tank & found it was different.>> The thickness really helps to keep the foot straps out of the water when railing up wind".

So the' voice over' by Bruce in the video was correct in stating a volume of 276 litres. This makes the board some 47 litres greater than the WOD LT ! It even has more volume than the last 2 Olympic boards, ie; RS-X @ 231 L & the MOD @ 235 L.

The board in the video is no prototype and is indeed the 276 litre model.

He has mentioned that the board / boards will be hopefully available soon for demos at the Woollahra Sailing Club.

Finally, perhaps this new board deserves / needs it's own Seabreeze page ??

Teach her to windsurf, on a modern board, once she gets planing, she's hooked and you can have all the boards you want

Shouldn't this be in another forum, or is just part of your little protest about the Windsurfet LT .

This is where the people who are interested in One design windsurfing would look. Just highlighting that there are some fun alternatives.

Wally's are still available new in Australia. They are $1900AU. Do you really believe the new fibreglass model will be cheaper than the one made from recycled milk bottles ?

Spot on, why do I want to get a long board for planning when all I want to do is cruise around in 10 knots of breeze that we get in winter. If I need to frrang around I get my kiting gear out and blasting in 12 knots. The one design LT sails well in sub planing conditions which is what I'm looking for. Have ridden many large volume race boards and this new 1DLT sails real nice.

Glad you had a go and loved it Alex. You weren't going to, in fear of hurting it, but aren't you glad you did.
Everyone who's hopped on one love's them. I loved how Brad could not be coaxed to have a go because he know's he'll like it, and it might cause trouble at home.
Will be good to see you back again, old or new. Was a great day.
Supply, I'm wondering about though, due to their popularity. At least you've got the old one to get you through.

For sure adding a windsup to you quiver for cruising around on light wind days is a good thing. Having a variety of types of boards creates more opportunity and develops a greater skill set. Also nice to have a board to give a mate a first try a windsurfing on with a board you regularly use . They can then go buy themselves a dedicated modern windsurf board to learn on and quickly progress.
So if it fits your lifestyle buy a windsup, any windsup.
The windsurfer is cheap windsup, thats a positive . Just add your existing rig and rock and roll.

But as far as one design windsurf racing they could have done so much better. The board itself looks to perform well in its intended lighter wind range .For just a few more $ it could have been transformed from a cheap windsup to a proper racing one design WINDSURFER.

1- a racing (upwind/downwind) long board should have a mast track.
2-Footstraps to really get it going and allowing it to be used comfortably in a lot more wind
3-ditch the ancient rig for something with a stable draft

Windsurfer should have made a bigger jump. Like the jump from VCR to DVD. Some people might not like it a first, for others (maybe even me)a game changer and worth it.
To me the Glide looks like the best one design right now, but unfortunately marketing and timing will determine if it will be successful .Then next year the Olympic OD will be determined and the RSX doomed to extinction. Add techno and there is a lot of choices for a small number of people interested in racing, not all will survive.
For a few hundred $ more the Wally could have been so much more

I hate how you try things and just know if you do you just have to have it. So I'm sure I will get one now even after just a small sail. This is a great board for crossing the bay no matter what the wind which is what I want, set off and just go. Who sells them?

Lol over 170 boards have been sold in Aust , they have different opinion to you .
get over yourself and your little man syndrome
and take your glide to a different thread ,stop polluting every article of the windsurfer LT with your
immature bull**** you ****witt
more of your crap
Buy second hand gear, get 10 year old stuff if your budget is small. Can get a great LIGHT,FAST setup for what you would pay for a WALLY $700 (they say) and still need to buy the rig.
