Ever had one of those days weeks months where winter never seems to end...

Where you find yourself locked inside scouring the internet for tales of warmer climes... then you stumble across a forum and a post boasting of warm water, wind and sunny days like GreenLeaders recent post (Still Cold and Windless) ????

Enough was enough... Boards were packed, rentals sorted and plane tickets purchased.

View from the GoPro mount of someone trying to get into the frame

View from the GoPro mount of hair being parted by boom end !

Just a rash shirt - envious!

I cant believe the hair parting! Acres and acres of sailing area and someone has to sail that close to you......you weren't planning and they were so it was their choice to get that close......I don't get some people.

Hope the rest of your trip goes well

Umm er we'll.. It's actually Big Al's head... Mine now has the permanent boom parted hair !
All fun and games on Maui...
not sure where the biggest smile on Al's dial was, blasting out on a down winder from Sugar cover to Uppers or finding a 1.5 litre bottle of JD in Costco for $40USD :-)

Sadly Al's trip was only 10 days and he flew out yesterday.
wind looks to be on for the next week and even some swell on the way if you can believe WindFinder ???

i'll have to get the harness and mast mounts set up on my gear now that Al has left... Although Scotty and his family just arrived from South Oz and he might be keen to rig up.

Great day today, mini golf in the morning then arm stretcher on a 5.4 this arvo.
G&T's the call of the day as the sun sets on another Magic Maui Day

Don't think it was a 3s that Al was using, 83 ish litre tabouli quad... Not the pocket wave but whatever the Da curve is now called ?
Al can you chip in with stats ?

I can confirm the deers.

It was actually 1.75L JD for $39...!

2014 86L Tabou DaCurve quadster in Thruster mode with a 2014 5.3m Gaastra Manic which looks like its made from an Ikea bag but is a sweet sail none the less.
If anyone fancies hiring gear in Maui I cannot speak highly enough about Matt Pritchard & the gear he has....total legend and top guy to boot.

The " newly parted one" was on starboard!!
I realise you weren't planing (maybe just planing) and so couldn't alter your course easily, but does port/starboard mean anything in windsurfing these days?

Kevo... Yowch! If it's any consulation you had me in fits of laughter for about 10 mins... Poor bugger! The still shot is Pure gold... Painful but pure gold!

So I took my medicine after laughing at your mis-fortune (the doctor prescribed 3 x 375ml phoenix)... Worked a treat.

Wind cranked big and early... also little bit of swell arrived !
Was on the water by 10:59 (For those who have not been to Maui you can not sail before 11 as a courtesy to the local fishermen.

Currently uploading some go pro to Vimeo but in the mean time here's some shots from today.

Two kids mate.. nuts need no further protection.
Swell is predicted to stay for the next day or two.. Lanes or Mamas tomorrow is the plan with a board planting on the way.
Hookipa was insane... think small Gnaraloo with 20 or more Euros trying to style it for the crowd. Hot flies to a sh#t is what one guy called it !

Timing is everything. Try get your body in a good position to project out in front. Make a shallower bottom turn. Stay higher on the wave and use your speed to send it.

Are you trying aerials at sprecks?
Go somewhere with a lip.

Not Sprecks. Little further east that only works with a bit of swell.
cross shore not cross on like sprecks And actually throws
troppo nailed it, too wide in the bottom turn then fully loaded through the sail once in the air.
gusting to 30 knots here today... Was wishing for something smaller than 4.7 !
