Windwarrior, its just a simple case of Polakow being a business man and having a responsibility to promote JP boards. He's hardly going to encourage people to buy Quatro boards, which he would be doing if he happily told people that his boards are actually Quatros.
It would be like u selling Windwarrior rashies that were actually rebadged Quiksilver rashies. That would actually make me buy one if I could find a way to peel the Windwarrior logo off to reveal the QS logo.
I remember when JP first brought out those boards with the channel in the bottom. He was quoted as saying that it was a great feature and really helped the performance. A close look at one of his actual customs showed the "channel" was just a sticker making it look like there was a channel. Don't know if that was the case for all of them, but it sure was for that one. For what its worth, those first channel boards were pretty good anyway so I'm not bagging the guy.

Excuse my ignorance but what is it you are saying or suggesting about our products ?
Our products are made right here in Australia by Australians and are not produced en-mass out of China.
We would never contemplate purchasing cheap inferior products and then re-badge them in an attempt to cut costs and deceive customers.
At WindWarrior we may well be Small on quantities but we're Big on quality.
Proudly Australian and fiercely protective of our brand and reputation.
Boris I have sent you a PM asking you to contact me in person in order to discuss this matter.

Hey windwarrior
Jp told everyone himself on the video interviews on the boardseeker website. He was interviewed back in Guincho last year and had been on the (Kieth T)twin fin for quite a few months at that stage.
This sort of stuff has been going on for ever. When Jp was sponsored by F2 he had island unique shape his boards.
Most pros have a budget to have X number of boards made per year by anyone as long as they are painted right to look like the brand sponsor.
I can't wait for the brochure hype in 2009 telling us a board is shaped by "a" when it was clearly made by "B". Will they tell the truth or con everyone with marketing.
I don't think the JP brochure is going to say their new twinny was developed by Keith at Quatro.
Cheers
Paul
P.s. Does anyone else think Kauli's new board looks a bit more gunny that his usual wide nose tiny tail & short boards? could be new style.
Im not sure why this has turned into a jp vs quatro issue? Anyone in the know admits that ALL pros ride customs, regardless of who there sponsor is or who the shaper is. Personally Im glad for this fact as the pros need to be pushing the boundaries of performance constantly and the shapers need to be tweaking the shapes constantly to keep up, and it is from all this testing that the progress comes down the line to us in the production market each season. If they werent constantly riding and trying new boards the progress each year would be nil.
The classic example is the twinfins that everyone on maui is riding at the moment, they are all customs and seem to be heading in an interesting direction, so alot of the manufacturers are bringing twinnies into their production line up next season.
I personally want the pros to be riding the newest customs and as many as they can, because by prodution time they have sorted the possitives and negatives of all the boards that have been ridden and tested, and turn it into the new season production board for their sposors. Giving the consumer the benefit of the years testing.
Oh, and you think kauli was ridding production quatros for the last couple of years???
Yer Dan, your dead on there, the more testing the better, don't care who rides them as long as the kick ass.
Kauli does look a bit different riding the new stuff, not as fluid on the new gear yet, give him a few weeks and he'll look ** hot again, we'll he still does but you know what i mean.
The photo of Levi looks sick, certainly powering through that bottom turn..
Kauli is definately my fav new school rider, Robby is still the king and JP well we cant put him in the same catigory as anyone else, he's over by himself in the crazy ass section, wish i had half the balls of this guy..
I definately agree that he doesnt look as fluid as he has in the past, Ide put that down to having to go back to a regular luff length more than anything else. Remember hes been on the boxers for at least 4ys now, and that has to affect your style. Im sure it wont take him long to suss it out again, hes been one of the best sailors on maui even before he was "spotted" by naish.
Gotta agree with you Dan, that did look a lot like Levi on the Goya sail.
Getting back to the original post though, Kauli did look pretty sloppy on his new gear, maybe just some teething problems.
I think the guy on goya sails is Jake Miller and the board is a single fin. polakow seems to get the cleaner waves than kauli maybe thats the difference. Pritchards ripping too, they are all killing it.
I thought compared to other videos you see of Kauli it was pretty sloppy by his standards. Could be wave quality I guess.
For example
yer that vid was much better, how's his last wave, carving between the surfers. that place look heaps of fun...
