Mine now wont connect even with a new cable and instead of charging completely drained the battery. Almost lasted 2 years.

I just had an other look at putting Paul's circuit into Simon's strap.

Looks like cct and display come in from the front.
The board is on the other side of the posts the back cover is screwed to.
I think the glass front is glued on, any attempt to remove it, will break it for sure.
It definitely comes out the back Mike, mine came out to solder the contacts. I think the antenna is taped in which had to come out and maybe i had to unscrew the metal button arms

Yes I saw the screws holding the contact arms, and wondered about them, but I convinced my self it was the wrong side of those posts, I could see no gap where they meet.
OK I've got them both apart, and yes the contact screws secure the cct board. Getting the contacts back in is now the problem, extremely small screws, strap that keeps getting in the way, and no real good way of holding those little screws, to start them off in their holes. Maybe a tiny spot of blue tack on the end of the screw driver? Give that a try tomorrow.
magnetic screw driver ? (I've got a couple of strong magnets in the drawer where I keep my screwdrivers, now all of them are magnetic !)

Thought wrong decrep!!! Magnet works great. Stil work to do though, there's a couple of buttons not working. But it talks to the computer and gets a satellite fix. So now Pepe and Simon have to decide what to do with it

Here's the watch in bits. On the left and right of the PCB is the copper where the button contacts screw in. The inner holes fit over locating posts in the housing, the outer holes are for the micro screws that secure the contacts and PCB to the housing.
Before I remembered to get my 3X glasses, I couldn't see to get the contacts between board and button. I was trying to fit the contacts with the buttons in. Doesn't work, you just end up frustrated with bent contacts. When you makes sure the buttons are out, you're in strong enough light,
with powerful enough glasses and a magnetised screw driver. Things go fairly easy.
So Antenna at the bottom with it's ground plane/shield flapping, battery to the right PBB in the middle and display at the top. The display is just hanging by it's ribbon cable, you wouldn't want to stress this.
Once I had those tiny screws out, I used the small alen key to pull up on the board at the antenna end, there's a gap there big enough to get under the board that way.
So all buttons are working now, but the reset button is a touch flaky. It no longer has a buzzer, because one wire snapped off and I couldn't be bothered trying to solder it back, so I just cut the other wire. The lazy easy solution.
I've no idea what the brown stuff is, you'd need to ask Pepe.

I was showing the left over bits to Peter (boardsufr) the other day, and noticed the buttons on Pepe's case are sprung outwards, so you don't have to worry about the contacts jamming. Unlike Simon's old case that rely on the contacts to push the buttons out.
So there are differences.

Wondering with these gw60s being pulled apart, if someone has a buckle from a watch that has failed resurrection could i please buy the part for my otherwise functioning watch...found it in chest deep water after frantic searching!

Well I have one here on a badly cracked band, but it doesn't belong to me, it's either Pepe's or Slugger's.
Looks like the buckle has expanded out past the pins, do those pins compress on springs? if so it would be easy to swap, otherwise it's either drive the pins through with a pin punch or bend the buckle.
Finally had a go at mine to day.
Yesterday after about 20 tries, couldn't get the GPS screen.
Last night I was more persistent and left it in GPS mode to discharge the battery over night. (took 5hrs 42min after being fully charged two days before)
So pulled it apart this morning, this is what I found.
Not surprised it was having trouble, amazing it was working at all!
That's copper corrosion from the back of the PCB imprinted on the back of the display.
This is the top of the PCB around the GPS button and connector area.
This is the edge of the board, where the contacts are
This is worst of the contacts, this is the back view, contact is made on the other side.
I bought this kit from Jaycar to use on the connections when it first had trouble talking to the computer. So I gave it a real test on the above mess.
The pink stuff worked very well, all that green gunk disappeared without any trouble, I then sealed it with the gold liquid, and reassembled.
Pleased to say it's working well.
Just as pleased I didn't loose any screws, ( magnetic screw driver, great tip) or break any wires, so for what it's worth this one still has a buzzer.
I'm sure this is all down to wearing it on top of a very bunched up spray jacket in Winter. When I crashed the spray jacket activated the GPS and Start buttons, dropped me back into watch mode, and condensation appeared on the window not long after.
I was thinking I might have to repair a worn through contact like Lunny did, but they all look OK.
I hopr that the guys at Locosys are seeing what problems occur with their premium watch.

Just in case the Locosys people are making notes ... the D ring dropped off mine buckle. The pin and tongue remained. I trimmed a bit off the band and replaced it with the buckle off a Samsung S7.
Has anyone successfully replaced their GW60 battery ?. What package size did you use ?
602025 or 402525 ?
