Hi Andrew
I am sure this is documented somewhere but in short what are the key differences between your fin and foil versions
The Fin and Foil versions are identical.
They are just a mechanism to allow the user to have different settings for different disciplines.
Here are my current settings:

Thanks for that Andrew, default settings are working fine for me
This has probably been asked but how do you download a .fit file from a Forerunner 255 session suitable for uploading into KA72? I tried following the Google instructions but couldn't make it work.
It can not be done on the Phone version of Garmin Connect.
On the computer version, click the Gear Icon and then select "Export Original"
GPSSpeedreader will be able to open this FIT File
If you want KA72 to read the FIT file you will need to set the FIT File logging setting in GPSTC V4 to zero
I swear I've followed instructions for version 4 perfectly about a dozen times. But i can not get it set up as an activity right on Garmin 645 music. wot tha!? I was sure I was tech savvy but not so sure now since lots of people having no issues setting up.

Where and how do you set the FIT File logging in the data field?
It's one of the parameters that you set up in the Datafield settings by using either Garmin Connect IQ app on your phone or Garmin Express on your PC.
Thanks for this great app tbwonder. I do have a question:
Setting the display units to kph has some side effects: The highest speed display setting for instance is from 20-40 but this means that the graph goes off the screen during sailing. Also when reviewing a session in Garmin connect all values are still in knots despite the global unit system being set to metric.
Am I overlooking something or is it basically 'knots only'?

Good questions. Not many people use the kmh setting. I need to have a look at the code and report back.

Unfortunately the displayed units in Garmin Connect can not be changed by a setting in the app. However if you have selected km/h then the value should be in Km/h even though the displayed unit is still kts
I have made some modifications to the V4 datafield.
1. Added support for all new Fenix 8 watches
2. The option to display all 5 of the best 10 second runs.
3. The option to have a best 500m run displayed instead of the current Nautical Mile.
I have updated the documentation at www.haigh.id.au/GPSTC.htm
Both the Speed Version and the Foil version are available in the IQ store. Latest Version is 4.81

That's great Andrew. Any feedback on the Garmin Fenix 8, as there was some discussion at one point that the 7 might not have been as good as the 6, so just wondering how the 8 compares to say the Fenix 6X (in terms of the GPS chip)?
I have no personal experience with the Fenix 8. Although the Queenslander who asked me to do the mods seems to be happy with it. I have been using the Forerunner 255 for the last year or so and I am incredibly impressed with it. It is the cheapest watch to have Multiband technology. It is significantly more accurate for windsurfing than my Fenix 5X.
There will probably be some good deals on Fenix 7 this summer, just make sure it has multiband, from memory the cheaper Fenix 7 do not have it.
Note the 255 is also discontinued, so there could be some good deals on those as well
Great, thanks. My Fenix 6X Pro is still having issues with the screen going blank for about a minute after each gybe (not sure why), so thinking of upgrading it. Might look at getting a Forerunner 255 just for sailing and keep the Fenix 6X for normal use, as it seems fine when not sailing.
check that your "The live speed display will display for extended period above this setting" is not set too low.
If you have elected to use the 'Speed Only (IC Setting)" then the screen can appear to go blank if the extended time trigger has been reached but you are travelling below the 'Live Speed will be displayed above' Setting. Which typically happens after a gybe.
Yes that's pretty confusing I know. Just set the "The live speed display will display for extended period above this setting" up to 50kts and see if that fixes it.
Thanks Andrew, I will try that. I do already have the "The live speed display will display for extended period above this setting" set to 50 knots so it doesn't come up while sailing. I played around with the settings yesterday (again) and I think under "Speed Display Scale" I had "Speed Page Off" and changed it to "Speed Only (IC Settings)". I will play around with these settings next time I go sailing and let you know how it goes.

Andrews app works perfectly with Fenix 8 watch.
Have had 5 sessions now faultless and app works as it should
While I manage ok I don't seem to get the most out Andrews great work
Has anyone experienced with Andrews data fields ever uploaded a YouTube video explaining the general operation
Could help tech dummies like me
What is the problem?
The installation is quite well written: www.haigh.id.au/GPSTC.htm
I've struggled mostly with the watch itself, not being used to how the watch works.

The instructions are excellent and I am enjoying it
I don't want to make a big deal about this because I am the issue (it took me 2 years to get my head around the GW60)
A few things I tried did not go to plan and I know 100% it's my own doing
-I tired to adjust Andrews target defaults and that did not go well
-struggling to start the sail race timer count down, as far as I know it's loaded but I can't find it
I will just find a local expert and ask them to show me
Cheers TK
