The plan was to write the results into the FIT file so they would display in the Garmin connect Stats panel. So far I can not get this to work with my fenix 3. I can write the GPS accuracy data to the FIT and get a graph of it in Garmin connect, but oddly I can not write the final values.

I have published the first release of Datafield 1 with Alpha 500.
If you search the Connect IQ store for GPSTC you will see 4 Datafields.
1. GPSTC field 1 (Fenix3, Vivo HR, FR230,235,630,735)
2. GPSTC field 2 (Fenix3, FR230,235,630,735 Only)
3. GPSTC field 1 with Alpha 500
4. GPSTC field 2
IQ will only let you install the files that suit your watch, there are two Datafield for each watch.

I would be very interested to see how the Alpha component performs.
Don't expect it to be perfect, I cannot test it as I only have the Fenix 3 which does not have the memory to run the alpha version.
I am currently attempting to squeeze a cut down version into a Fenix 3.

Just been browsing the Garmin website to get my head around the huge array of watch models, I was a little alarmed at some of the prices. The Fenix 6 models start at AU$999 and head up to $1650. If you think that is bad then have a look at the MARQ? collection! I was looking for the cheapest current model that would support my datafields. It looks like that would be the Forerunner 245 at $499.

At the more budget end of the spectrum I see that Amazon AU are selling the old model Vivoactive 3 for $220, which to me looks like a pretty good deal for a watch with a 240 by 240 display and able to load 32k datafields (same as the Fenix 5 models)

Don't be alarmed Andrew.
you can always get last years model from JB or Rebel at 50% off.
I bought a Fenix 5 from Rebel for $399. It also does so much more than you need.

I would avoid the Vivoactive 3. Touch screens are a pain in the arse when wet.

If you activate the auto screen lock it's not an issue.
I just can't get any windsurfing apps to run on it properly

Not sure why but none of those show up on my Vivoactive 3 after downloading & syncing although visible in Garman Express.
Other windsurfing apps show up but don't work very well or consistently.

Good test of data fields on Fenix 5 in light wind session. Great correlation with ka72 results from GW52!!

Does anyone know how to recall the data screens And the results
after you have exited the app?
apart from downloading the file into another program
then reading the track?

Snides, I don't think you can get the actual screens back but you can get the numbers through "History" in the normal watch menu.

Yeah checked that, but it's not the same info
just distance
time calories
ave speed in km
crap details about
aerobic load blah blah
s failing of the Garmin system as far as I can see.
i don't want to waste time downloading a file and processing in ka72 etc.

Just put new versions of Datafield 2 up on Connect IQ.
Both versions of Datafield 2 should now write the final value of Best Hour and Best Nautical Mile in to the stats panel in Garmin Connect.
Oddly this functionality does not work on the Fenix 3, but I have tested it successfully on a 235.

Also added support in Datafield 2 for the Forerunner 920XT and Vivoactive

It should work with Vivoactive 3. I have emailed Paul for more details of his problem.

Thanks Andrew, I will give it a crack today.
Not sure I will get it done before having a sail though, first real wind on ages

What other info do you want to see in the stats panel?

The 2sec, 5*10 and alpha will appear when I update datafield 1.
Actually "GPSTC field 1 (Fenix3, Vivo HR, FR230,235,630,735)" V1.1.6 already has this functionality

The latest versions of all Datafields should now write the best values from the session to the stats page of Garmin Connect.
I have no way of testing this so feedback with which watch you have would be appreciated.

I know that it does not work on a Fenix 3. The Fenix 3 HR may be different though as it is a later model.

Next job is support for XT920 on Datafield 1 without alpha

Tested today on the foil. It was super light and patchy so there weren't a lot of gybes to be had but, it seemed to work perfectly! Showed the gybes that were wide. Some that were inside 60 but outside 50 etcetera. Awesome. Andy! (Fenix 5 plus)

Finally got enough wind to continue testing yesterday. I have found some circumstances where the datafields have recorded high values in the alpha and NM fields. I have tracked this down to the watch failing to provide GPS data when it is requested, this leaves the old values in the array which messes up the next calculation. I have written code to deal with this situation for all categories in all 4 datafields.

It appears that when I release a new version of a Datafield then all users have to do is sync their watches to Garmin Connect on their computer and the latest versions will be downloaded automatically (This is the default in Garmin Connect). I don't think the datafields are updated automatically through Garmin Connect Mobile.

I have also changed the order that the results appear in the stats panel. So you will be able to tell if you have the latest version if you see the results in the stats panel ordered as 2Sec, 5*10, 1 Hr, Alpha, NM

I have added the 5 individual 5*10 speeds to the Garmin Connect Stats panel and also added the best 500 metre speed to the stats panel.
The results should now appear in the same order as they do in KA72.
I am starting to run into memory issues even on the 32k devices (fenix 5 models) I can not fit one more line of code into Datafield 1 for these devices.
If someone could post a pic of the results in the Garmin Connect Stats panel that would be nice, as I have no way of testing it.

Thanks Andrew for a great app. Tested with the Fenix 5 doing a few laps on the bike, with all fields showing as expected.
The 5 indiividual 5*10 speeds need a slight adjustment with the decimal point.

New versions of Datafield 1 with the scaling of the 5*10 values corrected.

Thanks joval. The order of your stats is not as I expected. It looks like you haven't got the latest version of Datafield 2.

It should update when you sync your watch with Garmin Connect.

OK, updated to the latest versions. Garmin connect didn't prompt me of a new version available of Datafield 2, only for Datafield 1. is there a way that I can check what versions I have installed.

Went for another bike lap around the block, - scaling of the 5*10 came out fine, but the stats order came out the same.

joval, I don't fully understand the App/Datafield update process. There is a setting in Garmin Connect Computer version, that allows automatic updates of apps and datafields. Garmin Connect Mobile does not do this, perhaps to save on mobile data.
I have found that it sometimes works and sometimes doesn't.
You have the latest version of datafield 2 as I see in your results there is the best 500m speed, which I only added last night.
I don't understand why they are not sorted as I have specified. I wonder what others are seeing?
I may try and add a way of seeing which version is installed.

Hi Andrew I just re-synced and did a bike lap around the block, this is the data for fenix 6, from what I can see I think I have the latest datafield versions. Thank you for all the effort you are doing on this

Thanks Dezza, the order of your results looks the same as Joval. Not quite what I wanted but I guess it will do.

I have added a launch screen to all 4 apps. To get the memory to do this I had to delete the letters from the custom fonts that I don't use.
All Datafields are currently V1.4

My Fenix 3 updated to the new version by simply syncing to Garmin Connect

Hi Andrew, all is good, the display order of the results appear to be an iPad and windows PC problem, my iPhone displays correctly. As far as I'm concerned, the display order is not a big issue.
