If you are I don't think this device would be for you.
But it does highlight a disadvantage of the watch form. When we first got the Garmin Foretrex 201, and we still thought it was 'waterproof', we wore it on the wrist or arm with the velcro watchband it came with. As a result, there are quite a few still on the bottom of Shallow Inlet somewhere.
If you are about that, there are a few 'solutions' I can think of:
- use a cable tie to secure it to your arm
- Enclose it in an arm band, preferably one that floats.
- Wear it inside your helmet or hat

That's the only difference between this watch on your wrist and your gt31 in an aquapac on your shoulder
Waterproofing is no issue, in fact I would suggest a gt31 in an aqua pac is still probably more waterproof than the watch, and like most watches, it will probably thuck up over time due to the waterproofing aspect letting you down.....
Still, I know heaps of people are excited to get the watch, they have pre ordered heaps up here at Budgy

Yes the same warranty you get when u catapult and smash your board up????
The info I have from Locosys is that the warranty is 13 months on the watch, and 6 months on the battery. I'll post more specific info if I ever get it, but I doubt they would accept a claim on a device that is lying at the bottom of the ocean.
Along with the stores listed elsewhere in this thread, ka72.com is now selling the GW-60 online both on our website and on our Facebook page. We're expecting to receive our units in mid-late December. Like other stores we have some pre-order discounts. I'll be in Tasmania after Xmas, so can hand-deliver down there potentially.

Hardly, that's only the case if you set the average speed to 2s, most of us will have it set to 10s.
If the GW52 is anything to go by, "max speed" can get very close to 1kt more than the 2s average, depending how peaky your run is.
The display uses the 5hz data, so you're looking at the peak over 0.2s instead of a 1.0s average of the GT31.
On second thought.
It is just slightly less expensive than a Suunto Ambit3 Sport.
By comparison the Ambit3 comes from a famous brand, is much nicer to wear as an everyday watch, has better autonomy, is presumably sturdier, has tons of apps to work with for every sport. It's not clear to me how many trackpoints it can log, but not everybody looks for full session analysis capacity rather than just max speed showing on dial.
So I think that - once again - the GW-60 will have very little appeal outside of the small niche of people looking for specific speedsurfing record-seeking GPS features. Others will prefer the Ambit3. So sales will be very thin (unless price drops by a large amount) with all the obvious consequences.

Thanks to my USA friend Craig Bergh, I just got some more information on the recording mode and acces to the file logs in the GW-60:
The default”USB CLASS/connection setting is "COM" mode (USB virtual COM port connection for utility software)
But you can switch the settings to Mass-Storage-Class (MSC) mode via the GW60 settings menu whenever you want.
I read this to mean that the device some to us in default 'COM' mode. For those who wish to use it in Mass-Storage-Class (MSC) mode for access from non windows devices, one must change to this mode in the settings before using it.
The firmware update utility, and the settings and download utility to use in COM mode are not still Windows only. For the settings and download, this is not an issue for Mac users as the settings can all be done in the watch and the downloads can be done via the Mass-Storage-Class (MSC) mode.
But for firmware updates, Mac users will still have to find a friend with a Windows machine.

With the Hanjin mess still sending ripples through the freight routes I guess we can be thankful they are small enough to airfreight.
Just had an updated from Locosys. It seems they are not expecting to get the GW-60 till around the 7th December 
. Then they have to be shipped to Australia so at the moment I would not expect to get them till the middle of December 
.
Fingers crossed they make it before Christmas

I got a similar email, and sent them an email for confirmation of delivery date they came back with a confusing email. They now have emailed me again apologising for the confusion and saying I will have them delivered to me next week.

I'll leave the official thing to Daffy, but last I heard from him was that they are meant to have the identical workings to the GW52, so shouldn't need a lot of work to approve them.
I'm glad to see the antenna is indeed under the "GPS" sign on the band. This should mean the antenna is never pointing directly at the water, so the underhand/overhand thing shouldn't be too noticeable.
But it's the first thing I'm going to check, as soon as my unit is charged up.
