Found it.. maybe I won't join.. Think I'd be pretty pathetic and I'd want a slalom board that I can't afford..

Now they're the words of a pessimist sbcrazy - it's not about others speeds as much as improving your own PB's and by default your sailing i.e. The challenge is as much about challenging yourself as it is others. Come on we know you want to join.

PS - can anyone loan sbcrazy a GPS?

You will want a slalom board, but do it anyway.
It will make you push yourself and improve your sailing no end! (and double the fun)

Sue we would love to have you on the Lake Macquarie team. It's not just about speed. You do a lot of sailing and distance is one of the categories.

I have a spare GPS you can borrow to see if (when!) you get hooked. Cheers

Got my pb on a rocket 95. Don't need a slalom board, you've got rockets right?

By the name they are from the Mid North Coast, not Central Coast, too far south by about 200kms

Anyway Sue, join the Lake Mac crew. Its your local team.

Don't worry if you don't post much. Half the people in it never post.

Yes join Sue. It's a great way to meet lots of people who love sailing. It is best to join your local team.
The challenge also makes you more focused on improving all areas of your sailing. Don't worry about the guys - they always have to race each other.
The gt 11 or 31 is easy to use. If it is turned on it is recording your data. Take the card out after your sail. Put in your computer. Go on ka72. Download to gpstc. Make a comment and post.

I had the gt11 that Kelly was talking about for $70 but it is sold - sorry.

I started GPS'ing(?) this year on freeride gear. Have managed 30kts 2sec and 18kt alpha.
Just getting rigging tips and talking with the seasoned speed freaks is enough to bump your numbers up.

Here's an exercise for you. Strap on a gps and do the same thing you normally do. With the same gear you normally use. That's what most people are doing.

I didn't start out doing 32 knots! It took me three years to get to that. I started at 24 knots and it took quite some time to better that, and nearly a whole year to get from 29.6 to 30!

..I think my problem will be I won't bear off enough..I don't like to lose too much ground downwind and have to work back up..

U can use me gps for some runs when we sailing next. I got 30.4 the other week & now i know how fast i can sail.
That was on me 2000 mod f2 98lt so dont worry about ya boards they will be good for now, mabe not latter.
next week looking good mabe get on the small board & sails & see if speed increases or stays the same, witch
then means i'm the problem.
Gps is good for that.

Thanks Rus.
I'm going to take James up on his offer and borrow his for a while..That way I'll have it on when I'm fresh and for more than one run! I know my small board is fastest but I need to start using it more with a larger fin. It's a waveboard but definitely scares the crap out of me when were flying overpowered into a gybe in chop..
By borrowing one I can find out if I can use it without becoming too perfectionist /competitive so I can still enjoy sailing. Also my partner can see if that model has the features he needs for sailing..

I've done 36.08 on my 95, and 34 on my slalom board. Happy with both results.
Freeride gear is easy, and I'm lazy!

As I remember the wind was 20 to 23 knots, with the occasional bullet reaching 25. I guess I was in the right spot for the bullet.

Yeah Sue, the windsurfing kit you have now is fine. If you join and start posting you will have a fair chance of being the top female GPS female windsurfer for NSW. I'd like to buy faster boards than the Rockets. However I don't think I've found the limit of the 105 and it is such a lovely board to sail on in stronger winds.
