I spent the weekend at SP and the tides were very low,so I think Ian would have had the 9am low and a few hours of incoming(and then it probably kept coming with the serge).
I would have thought it was South West to South in and through low tide and some West swingers later on.
It was Nuking and these are the wind strengths we have been sweating on for the last few months,so when they appeared Ian scored and that's a credit to his experience and vigilance.
My respect for his skill has gone up immeasurably. Just to survive a mid winter Victorian storm in a wetsuit , let alone get 45 knots out there on your own. The first winter I had in Melbourne I froze my nuts off.

In hindsight I would give her a pint of blood for that session!
