When I was cutting the grass with Adam a slight 5 knot NE wind was blowing in straight to the rigging area.
I think the NE winds will be awesome at Watson/T Lake.

Excellent news! Will head down there next bonus n-easter we get too. I have the jail here and the river ramp in nor-easters, and both are ok, but not long runs like I'd hope to get at Watsons. Will find out anyway I guess.

Now hurry up southerly, got the 4.5 ready if it's cyclonic Though anything over 20 knts is a gail to me...

You guys aiming for Weds? Looks like more south then, so should be nice and clean there I guess.

Mark, you mentioned the lake being shallower than Queens, how deep is it you reckon?

Cheers for the map pics, puts things into perspective.

Cool perspective with Google that way Mark - makes it easy to see that a NE should be awesome there!

Still aiming for Tues/Wed Phil ma boy - not building it up tho because the forecasts have been a little unreliable hey

For the guys that haven't been to WT Lake here are a few facts:

* The water looks real clear like queens.

* The road that goes in to WT only goes to the lake for fishermen and sailors, and given the track is in disrepair and was quite overgrown, I dont think it gets used much at all. So all the dodgy redneck traffic that sometimes comes through the Queens reserve should not be happening at WT.

* The turn off for WT is exactly 15ks further south of the Bobs Creek turn off.

* To get to WT it takes me exactly half an hour from where I live (centre of Port Mac), which is slightly less than Queens

* The road in is boggy in sections, take the left arm of the road when you get over the railway tracks and through the first bog section, as this avoids the worst of the bog. This track kind of looks new as it hasn't been used for a bit and Mark and I just cleared it this weekend.

* Even though the road in is dodgy in sections, AWD and def 4WD is fine. After rain it may be a challenge for other types of vehicles......a fast run up is NOT recommended as there are steep departure and arrival angles due to some rocks and tree roots that force you to take it slow through the bog.

Looking forward to some wind when it happens. Am primed for some PBs there - hope the wind is as clean as anticipated.

Cheers for the info Adam.

Will probably be Weds for me (no work that night), and I can sail at Trial By on Tues. Though I'll go Tues if it all falls into place.

Anyway, hangin' to get wet again, and I wanna see you guys that know what ya doing fair flying! Just don't laugh as you pass me floundering in the briny...

Woudn't mind having a run with a GPS, so if ya keen Adam, I'd love to see what speeds I can achieve. Hmmm, this may be the start off a whole new chapter

PS- Raf, put the kettle I'll call in for a pit stop

Now bloooooooow wind, this glassy drizzle is freakin' painful!!

Awesome effort ... But if I ask your misses I bet she would say you have a million chores to do at home including cutting the grass which you have been putting off for weeks ?

Above and beyond looks like a great spot

Definitly a top effort, and shows the calibar of people who love windsurfing. In most other sports the same effort would have been put in to stop you going there!

dont forget to bring the Quatro Phil. the F2 will bouce around too much once it gets windy, whereas the quatro will sit lower and just get down with business - considering you can water start it will be the better board for the day. I may even go for a run on it if it gets as windy as forecasted!

Will do Adam. I think I need a van, got so much crap to cart around!

Solid wind at the gaol just then, up to 20 knots of n-west. Flyyyyyyyyin! Full stutter jumps, made two gybes (woohoo!!), now keen to get on some sensible flat water. And yep, I've saved some energy for tomorrow

PS- Will bring the SLR camera and get some shots if anyone wants some.

Cheers.

Hi Adam & Phil,

Mark J, Steve, Greg & I should be all down at Watson's Tomorrow.
I will bring my SLR Camera to with my Long lense.

What I saw of the Depth looked like between your knee & waist. There is some channels where the rivers run into the Lake. I would say they would be over your head.

Interesting day coming up!

Looking forward to hearing what the conditions were like up there, seeing some photos and some great GPS results. Spoke to Gabe this arvo and we'll be on Wallis lake tomorrow with Chris, Pete and Arron, and we'd love to get the team together one weekend for a sail up there.

Wet, Wild and Fun!

Tried to get a few shots of the guys sailing but it was simply too miserable to get a decent distant pic, and I didn't want to drown my nice new Canon. Just got these two pics of Mark J and Steve walking into the chilly gloom for some speed runs.

Had a great time there, was good to see the local crew- sorry I missed ya Adam. Very patchy wind but when it blew, it blew! Was fair flying with the 5.2 wave sail at times, made a few shakey gybes and got to work on water starts. Only stacked a few times, so I consider that a victory Someone may have to do something about the water temp- I'm used to 24 deg water... But what a great place to sail. Should be ideal in a nor-easter too. Keen to get back there.

Cheers Mark H and Adam for tidying the place up the other day, you've made a top venue even better.

Hopefully either Mark will have some GPS readings to share?

PS- Was good to see ya Raf. You were looking good mate, and super keen to sail again. Can't wait to see you back on the water.

Great Pics Phil. You will have to get a GT-31 soon and join the Marauders!!

Adam got there late but was first to do 30 knots on the lake!!!!!!!!
30.31 Knots is the Lake Record Now!

Lake had over a foot more water in it today. Due to Big tide and rain water.
Would have been flatter if the tide was not so big.

Well-Done Adam!

Thanks Mark, but given the talent pool in the team it wont be long before that one gets busted! Got there later and sailed from 2-4. Only got out cos I couldn't feel my feet any more and was getting clumsy!

I cant believe how shallow the lake is. Out in the middle and still belly deep. Yeah the chop was rolling, and i agree there was a lot more water there then when we were mowing. From the pics Phil took, I can vouch that there was less water when I was there this arvo.

Gee the track in is all bashed up with the rain and traffic. When I got there there were 4 fishing boats, a few parked trailers and a couple of 4wds. Looked like commercial prawners or crabbers.

So the wind was WSW or there abouts. Seemed as gusty as Queens. Prob better in a dead S? Or is this super gustyness just what we expect from winter wind?

I had to Google a "GT 31" to see what the Hell it was- so it's a GPS Yep, definitly on the cards (if only to try and beat Adam[}:)])- and so too is a Go Pro camera! Would love one of them, some of the clips on here look un-real. Will no doubt join the Maruaders too- but first I gotta learn how to sail ...lol.

30.31 knots hey, good effort mate!

Moby said yesterday at Cantoon it was gusting from 10-20 knots, so probably just the wind? It was coming in on a good angle to be clean.

Adam,
The guys with the boats are Pro fishing guys. They set 750 metre long cork nets in the lake just before dark. They have to pull the nets in just after sunrise. They only do it during the week. Not week ends.
They come from Taree. I talked to one of the guys.Lucky I bought that saw last week end. I had to use it today.I had to cut a small tree that had fallen over the track!

Thanks Raf, glad you like it, and it was good to catch up- it's been a while Candid shots nearly always look better hey. It certainly captures the moment- in all it's icey, cold glory! Would have been great to get some pics of the guys flying towards the camera doing big carving gybes, etc, but it just wasn't a day for pics. Next sunny day with wind I'll take it for sure.
