Wind is starting to look good for the contest from the first day so far, and the sand banks are working great.

Not looking good now

What a killer that massive downgrade was on Thursday/Friday. I was planning a nice weekend locally with 15-20 but was very dispondent when the wind vanished from the forecast. Sail pilot, hope you packed a stubbie cooler

You're right Dark Maaan, Debbie, Ului, and Larry were thirdish week of March, don't know if that translates to wind at Burrum next week but here's hoping they get good conditions Glad you've been ripping in at GB, you'd have to be the fittest old Maaan on the Sunny Coast

Forecast was 15-20 NNe. The increase in wind was from an approaching storm . If you understand what causes wind increase With an approaching storm then forecast was correct.

If you are sure there will be wind suitable wind for Burrum then you obviously do not believe any of the currentweather models.

If there's no wind. At WORST itll be a great social gathering of people who are POSITIVLEY into windsurfin. GOOD TIMES id think. Go sit in the corner you naughty lil boy.

Only commented on your opinion on weather.
As expected you have been personal in your response which is consistent with some of your previous posts on Seabreeze forums. At 1100 posts you obviously have many opinions.
I am extremely positive and passionate about the sport of windsurfing.
As I put a lot of my time into Bayside Sailboard Club I am well aware of the frustration when the weather does not align with competition dates.
I did go to Burrum wind fest in 2017 and the event was let down by Ex tropical cyclone Debbie.
Burrum is firstly a competition for windsurfing and is the reason windsurfing people attend.

What I do to promote windsurfing;
Volunteer for Bayside Sailboard club for past 3 years,
Treasurer and GPS coordinator for past 2 years.
Volunteer for boat duties for Slalom racing when not racing.
Volunteer to BBQ duties for local Bayside Club.
Encourage other sailors to join local sailboard club and attend social events.
Passionate promoter and participate of GPSTC in SEQ.
Passionate supporter of KA posting group completions for Qld, Moreton Bay, sailor score, Hour of power and NM challenge.
Support local sailors with tips on sailing technique, Gear and weather expertise.
Travel to many different locations in SEQ to meet other windsurfers and encourage others to do so.
Support the local sailboard shop and encourage others to do so.

Sailed at Burrum 13 Days and only had one trip where it did not blow. Love Burrum for windsurfing.

^^^ So im a cyber bully? Bcoz i ask why YOU put a downer on a windsurfing event? I didnt do so until you had a shot at my weather obs comment. I also didnt state how much wind MIGHT occur. Maybe only 10-15kt. Local weather scenario will dictate. You STARTED the slingin right here. Cmon now. For real??? HAVE A GREAT DAY MATE. Chill out...

then I may come next year.

Peoples time is precious and when we run events in brisbane through Baysidsailboad club, we will often cancel events on a dodgy forecasts and 9 out of a 10 we get it right. Unfortunately it's the nature of slalom and speed sailing , you can organise a great event but wind is the one thing we are at the mercy of..

Yep i get what youre saying Aus4. But Cocky2 passed comment on my local weather obs. Nothing to do with Burrum. So i replied to his belittling comments on weather.
Anyway Burrum Windfest is a speed event regardless of wind strength. True?? So if its light wind take your big gear. If its honkin take your small gear. Its all about how fast you go in the prevailing conditions. Its not the Red Bull Storm Chase where everyone is on call ready to jump when its perfect conditions.
Enough of this ELCRAPOLA.
Good luck to those who will compete. Have a choice week of sailing n socialising.

However the wind is have a great week. I looked at the models and baled out on the 14hr drive- so am now perched on Magnetic Island ( 20min trip), hoping for wind but bringing out the snorkelling gear and walking shoes if there is not! Wishing good vibes and hopefully some unforecast breeze to the Burrum crew and thanks for the windwanderers crew for yet again setting the event up!

Big thanks to all the committee and fellow competitors. The lack of wind was absolutely the only disappointment this year.
A well run, fun event in an awesome venue
See you all again next year.
