I'm still hoping in the future we can split the windsurfing to just speed based rather than age or gender.
Classed off 5x10 PB data off KA72 or GPSTC
Sub 30knot "Rookie"
Sub 35knot "Intermediate"
the Rest "Open"
Most sailors that head up know who their peers are, why throw a rookie in with the opens when it serves only to demoralise them?
Give them a class so they can battle it out... same with the intermediate...
I'm pretty sure everyone would be patting the person on the back that say gets a PB takes out the class and elevates to the next class the following year.

I'm just hoping for a good forecast to warrant some days off work to go up there...
Makes sense Rolz.
It is a Speed sailing comp.
Not a gender or age comp.
Everyone gets a chance if its Speed groupings.
Gives equal recognition to all skill levels involved.
As much as being referred to as a "Rookie" makes me feel young, could we change that category to something else like "slow bastards" or the "yet to crack 30s"?

How about , " old age and tertiary wins over youth " , class ?
But it rarely does ,
like kind of it never does

I was waiting to see if that would stir people up... whilst totally being light hearted about the naming, the conversation I wanted to get going on it...
how about

Aficionado
Maestro
haha I'm sure we can think of better ones

I vote for Maestro ........Or how about the "Semi's", or maybe the "Groovers" or the "Less slippery" ?. Probably the least offensive (if you're into that sort of thing) would be the "B team".

Semi's might get a sponsorship from Viagra, get some money into the comp
What about a Nurophen cup .
The nautical mile, sponsored by deep heat
The 1 hour challenge, brought to you by Viagra. ( warning , don't take sponsors product before sailing)
By the look of the people I know on there only looks like a couple of years ago
but I recon its 2009
Out of interest, anyone in the Committee across whats going on with Burrum and native title regulations?
Article from the paper today
Edit - Seems like way down the road at the end of Burrum st. So shouldn't impact us.
This is the first we have heard of it. It does read as if it is down the end of Burrum Street. All the permits are in place as usual.
I sailed Burrum yesterday, above the large washout on the main bank. The formation of the bank between the 4th and 5th beacon is the best I've seen for a few years.
Registration is showing as currently not available on the site, has anyone else managed to register this morning?
The website is up and running again. The problem may reoccur again tomorrow but we will keep monitoring it.

Just checked the website and it is accepting entries.
The Windfest window has entered Windguru's 2 week forecast.
So far, not looking good for the first half of the week. I don't think Burrum Heads is sailable in a SWer! Hopefully the long range forecast is as usual crap.
