Forecast is looking Big for this Sunday .. So We are running a one hour event at Wynnum . Basic concept is start from beach and do as many laps around course as you can in an hour. You can rest if you want as inside mark is near beach . We will have divisions for opens sailors and free ride
I forgot to mention there will be a lucky draw as well :) , everyone is welcome , membership can be offered on day (Need insurance cover)
You do not have to have gps to enter event .
I sail in a waterski wetsuit with a sown in buoyancy vest. It's more than enough to keep my 77kg frame floating. Is this ok or are there specific requirements on the type of vest required?
Richie are you handerling the money for member ship i need to join the club.
Hi all,
I will be there to collect race fees and can also sort out membership but the best way to join the club is on line at the bay side website and do a transfer:

HI
Your water ski bouyancy will be fine
This is a rough idea on format . We will need sailors to have sail numbers so we can count of the laps. The inside mark will be close to beach so if you need a rest or want to change gear coming in will not be an issue.
THE COURSE
Two marks set approximately 1 Nautical mile apart. Your sail number will be recorded as you complete each lap. At one hour a sound signal and flag will be raised to indicate end of time, you must complete the lap that you are on. If you are sailing away from beach you must sail to outside mark and complete the lap.
There will be lucky draw after the event . Forecast is looking good at this stage :)
This is a Bayside Sailboards event sponsored by Board Crazy so race fees are $15 on the day as usual FYI.

Where do I get sail numbers from
If you do not have number though the club , just get some black tape so you can put temporary number on sail , we only need it so we can record you as you round the mark .. People in past have written on sign on sheet things like " red Serverne, Blue Pryde' as you can imagine that doesn't help.
AUS XXX numbers are allocated by Windsurfing Australia though application to the QLD AWA Rep Scott Farley. Refer the following website:
www.windsurfing.org/sailnumber_staterules.htm
OR you can make up your own personalised number - eg DWBH
Both AUS XXX numbers once allocated and personalised numbers can be printed by Digital Ink www.digitalink.net.au/
Is this only open to Bayside members, or members of other clubs as well?
I joined Windwanderers earlier in the year.
Cheers, Brad.

So just to be clear:
The EVENT fee on the day is $15.
Anyone can enter this event but need to be a member of a club affiliated with AWA for insurance purposes.
If you are not a member of a club you can join Bayside Sailboard Club on the day ($40 if rejoining and $70 for new members).
I will bring along some membership forms.

Are there buoyancy vests available for loan? My impact vest is 'not an approved flotation device'....
