Manly Harbour..09:30am. currently 34 knots Easterly, max gust 39.6 knots....Oh and forcast occasional tornados ! wtf !
Just arrived at wello, unbelievable high need and heaps of wind. Just heard there is a tornado warning now as well and starting to wonder whether this is a smart move
Shearwater GC is howling ENE with driving rain and big gusts (No guess on windspeed). After 2 months in the USA I was pretty keen for a sail this week...need a 4.0 !!
Passed through Hervey bay this morning.Pretty wild There was a surfable wave at Torquay :) The backwash was pretty bad though. Maybe when the tide drops i'll think about a sail or a surf :)
I am thinking twice about this, just saw news footage of a guy who couldn't get to his letterbox because his ute had parked itself on it.
Maroochydore BOM station is reading 30-40kts at 12.00, its generally quite acurate normally couple of knots windier than the truth.
have never seen it reach 30-40, it's amazing how much windier 30+ is!
Was Great Sailing at Lake C yesterday evening, hitting close to 30knots on a wave board and wave sail great fun, water was amazingly smooth considering.
Tempted to take umberalla and skateboard out for some fun! dont have sails small enough for this.
Farl's, wencky, tribey and I just had a sail at manly. Ballistic!
Some very strong gusts. The boats in the harbour looked like they were getting tossed about. Richie might be a rough nights sleep!
Thanks for your concern guys. Where I am in the harbour is a LOT more sheltered than those poor bastards out near the entrance.Max gust today 41 knots. My biggest concern is a drip from the roof. I have solved this issue with a saucepan.Cheers.
My arms feel like lead, what a workout, or should I say what a working. I think we got the better of it, as Simon and I got out Mark (radar) was getting in and I'd say it was well and truly 40 knots by then. He had his hands full on the 4.0.
I was on 4.2 m2 92 L at KFC 11 till 2.30 pm.
Just me and one kite plus two windsurfers sailing way above doing long fast runs.
Hard to believe looking at the chart that half of the time it wasn't enough wind to get planing or finish the gybe.
What is good about KFC spot , you feel completely safe in such strong wind.
Access to shallow or beach without risk of the current taking you into ocean.
just got back from wello and it was insane . the wind at wello is NUCLEAR. that is the most memorable session i've had in years. 4.7m kaos and 84lt rrd wave board
we measured 44 knots on the wind gauge then i went back out and it picked up i am sure we had 50knots coming through.
visibility was down to 100m if that
there was a large crew out. probably 30 people all up. as i was finishing up a bump and get smashed session the bank was becoming exposed and the speed guys hit the water so i watched. the guys would hit the top of the course then dissappear into the whiteout.
i would not be surprised to see records fall for qld today. i saw vando have a MASSIVE stack.
flooding was happening on the way home and it's low tide so that will be interesting.
everyone that sailed today good on you!
Just saw some guys on the news windsurfing. Apparently they have no respect for safety or themselves
It's windy, we are windsurfers. It's like saying its irrisponsible to step onto a rugby field in case a medic might need to be called.
Wello went off best day ever on the water.
Went on the wave kit totaly maxed out but some nice Airs.
Later when the tide dropped Did some pb's on the speed kit.
Couple guys hit 47 today
