Just superg;ue it together next time. I bet that's all the doc did.
I'm mainly using the macro at work to take pics of healed wounds, rather than gory open ones.
By down in the details, I meant just appreciating fine detail in common things.
I'm getting a new computer in the next few days, then I'll maybe post some shots to show what I mean. We sold our small farm and a whole bunch of other stuff recently, when we moved, so we have been catching up on the hobby stuff.
My ancient laptop, about 7 yrs old is finally dying. Until I got teh macro, I didn't care, but now I have photos to process.
lol remo,
i thought that kiter image captured the darkside in action.
Hi ken,
they glued it back together again. my son wasn't so happy when they grabbed it so the wound glued togather but it seemed way better than stitches.
i sorted out my photography kit today, stopped by teds and picked up a 16gig card for the same price as the online shops. very happy and no need to wait for the mail.
yeah the nurse was a bit taken back and thought it needed stiches. but doc was sure the purple glue would do the trick! has work well to date.
no worries bout burrum i know you were a maybe so all good. i am not allowed to mention the weather anymore on seabreeze but i am sure i will be kissing the blue at some point.
this is a full size crop from the 50d and the 100mm macro at f16. it's most sharp at f8. Fully open it's pretty good too. it is slightly sharper than using the 50mm 1.4 lens and extension tubes.
and the full pic
not L, just the EF 100 Macro. It's really good for the price and nice for portraits
It will go to f32 but it's a bit too soft. On full frame, F16 is it's best compromise for tiny bugs with sharpness and dof imo, and f13 on the apc sensor
this is the lens on 5d2
100% crop @ f2.8 -->
100% crop @ f8 -->
100% crop @ f16 -->
i reckon have a look at the tokina 116 for your wide stuff, it gets very good reviews and rates higher than the canon and sigma equivalent. that will be my next purchase. it 11-16mm f2.8 has focus ring clutch for af/mf. the thing it rates so highly with is sharpness.
if the 100mm goes up to f32 how would it fair for landscape photogrpahy? can you switch off the macro?
it has a .38 or .48 metre limiter switch if needed
on your 40d, f11 would be ideal but you not going to fit much in it's field of view, or you need to stand waaaaay back , but even then it might look a bit orthographic
not sure how wide u want to go? i even found 10mm not wide enough on apc sensor at times when shooting inside. 14mm on a full frame would be beaut.
yeah, the crop is great for sport but for wide stuff it isn't the best.
i need to go wider than my current 17-85 as that doesn't get me where i need to be. the usual lens for wide stuff on crop bodies is 10-20mm. that covers everything.
Back again. Been off-line for a few days while computers and modems died and were replaced.
I'm going to look into that Tokina 116, sounds like a nice lens. It's a 16mm I take it ??
Went half-way up Mt Warning yesterday and took a nice shot of a long stair that reminded me of the Dimwell Stair from LOTR.
Taken on a 20D through an old 28-80 kit lens that I got with my first camera, an EOS 500, about 15 yr ago. I was pleased with this image. I kinda grovelled on the stair and shot blind as I could not get my eye to the viewfinder.
i know how you feel gestalt, one day we'll both be able to afford some decent brands, lets continue to appreciate what we got
i'm a hack on guitar. it's been a long time also so the gear is gathering dust. i tend to either windsurf or play music and at the moment i'm more windsurfing.
i have an ats 120 which is tube preamp solid state power amp. the clean channel is the most impressive blues sound i've heard. it's bassy and very round. also got a roland cube60
i like the lead channel but the crunch tends to be a little to "metal" at times. (edit* started wondering whether it is the other way round?) usually use it with a ds-1, big muff or small clone and my much loved godin radiator... (which is apparently a girls guitar )
i agree with hairy on this one. i've been fortunate to use a few different valve heads and the H&K isn't an allround head. that said i haven't had much use on the all valve H&K heads.
my fav is the orange ad30 for all round sweetness.
have also used a vintage music man amp with fender setup and they are sweet. not much of a fan of fender amps though.
also used a marshal jcm800 with a les paul and flying v setup. the flying v makes me smile.
don't start me on effects pedals. i bought a lot and think i may have wasted some money.
while we're talking about monopods.
tried the mono at burrum and had a problem that you guys might be able to cure. bear in mind i'm not using it with a head yet.
as the sailor sailed past me and i tracked the camera i found i kept tilting to one side. eventually just resorted to hand held.
i was only joking
just takes some practice at keeping the pod vertical. a slackened forward/backward tilting head helps
wondered what you guys think of a canon 200mm f/2.8 prime with the 1.4x for windsurfing?
looking at ditching my 70-300mm and i can pickup the above setup new for around $1000 and 2nd hand seems to be around $600-700 depending........
i'm ok with the lack of zoom,
but it has no IS????????
