2nd and 3rd of May

notice of race will be up shortly.
This year we will have
a retro division for the old longboards with a 7.8m sail limit.
and a Hybrid division also with 7.8 m sail limit.
We can add a Wally division if the interest is there.
The Hybrid division will allow
Bic Techno 293,
Neil Pryde RSOne and RSX
Starboard Phantom 295
Spare boards may be available for hire or loan by prior arrangement

You can compete with a retro board in the open class with a 9.5 sail if you want.
You just wont be eligible for the 7.8 category prize.
7.4 was the maximum when those boards were made.
7.8 is close enough to that and is commonly available in raceboard sails.
We are trying ways to keep the older equipment relevant.
If there is no support for such a category we won't do it again.
I think 7.8 max sail for the retro is a good idea. Which year of manufacture are you going to set the retro board at?
The 2015 Nationals Notice of Race had retro defined as manufactured 1995 or earlier.
I'm happy to use the same definition.
Hi Tony,
Would there be a category for phantom 377 with 7.8 sail?
If not I'll have to try and rent/borrow a 295 or get a 9.5 racesail.
You can race whatever combination you want if you are not worried about coming first. Board Crazy prizes will be given by lucky draw anyway.
I can arrange a big sail or hybrid board as well.
Hope you can get to the lake soon and we can make a plan.
And I've just hung up my Tyronsea 7.0 as a shade sail over the kids treehouse. I might have to fire up the BIC Bamba for a cruise on the bay.
Hi Ants
you do need to be registered with a club.
We can do that for you on the day with Lcsc.
come and see me if you are up our way this Sunday or next.
you can join us for a practice race.
Reminder Notice
The Board Crazy QLD Raceboard Championships are almost here.
Only two weekends of practice left, but if you want formal race practice then next week end is it.
LCSC will have Racing on Sunday the 19th of April. first race at 11.00, second race at 1.30.
I believe RQYS will have Saturday racing.
See you at the lake on the 2nd and 3rd of May.
You can come for one day only if you can't make it both days.

I have been asked to clarify eligibility for the Raceboard championships. The NOR only mentions one division "Raceboards".
Almost all boards with a centreboard will qualify to enter. You can use a Starboard Rio, Kona One, RSX, F2 Lightning, etc.
If in doubt, ask me for confirmation.
Sub-divisions will be formed depending on entries.
The Open mens division will have a 9.5m maximum sail size.
The Open Womens will have a maximum 8.5 m sail size.
We will then have a division with 7.8m maximum sail size which will have subcategories depending on entries.
We have suggested a Retro category for boards manufactured before 1995,
and a Hybrid category for boards up to 3m long
We could have a Wally category or a Techno 293 category.
For example, the windsurfer One Design "Wally" board is eligible for entry under the Raceboard rules but would not be restricted to its one design sails.
If the wally sailors choose to use their one design sails and we get five or more entries, we can form a division and recognise the fastest Wally.
If less than five entries are received they can sail in a combined 7.8m sail division. I'm told that some interstate wally sailors could be joining us.
Just come and have fun.

Max practicing at Cootharaba for next years camps - retro division
Already Outsailing his dad - Tacking, gybing and (voodoo land) downwind sailing
Cheers Jeff
Tyronsea Falcon is fine.
If you haven't done any racing before, I would recommend coming to the lake this weekend and trying our club racing first.
I don't recommend a championship as starting point.
There will be a lot of traffic so you need a fair understanding of the rules.
You could be ok if you have some dinghy sailing experience.
Still better to kick off in a club race.
Heard a couple of Wally sailors are on their way from NSW, to race
Us Qlders are such versatile sailors, guess we'll all be on RB that weekend. Any Wally boards up here in the race?
Cheers.
We have The first race at 11 usually an hour long.
then the afternoon race at 1.30 which is one and a half hours or so.
I will be there from about 9.30.
I'll definitely be sailing my Wally with original rig whether that's in a one design fleet or retro class... Hopefully both days but will have to see. Bring it on!
I'll be there on my W1D... Just wondering there's a mast out there that would make my new sail look shmick?
