SEQ Waveailing is here!!! After a few months dotting the I's and crossing the T's SEQ Wavesailing has opened it's doors so to speak.
The idea behind SEQ Waveailing is to offer wave and freestyle sailors in the south east of Queensland a club that will meet their needs, and third party insurance for a little added peace of mind. We will be looking to promote social and competitive events across the Gold and Sunshine Coasts to give the experienced sailors a chance to shine and offer those who are making their first jumps or bottom turns the opportunity to learn from others. Initially the plan is to run a number of Wavesailing events with the hope that we can also generate the numbers to offer events to the freestyle sailors in the south east.
To kick off the club we will be running a BBQ/Sign on day this weekend. At this early stage conditions are starting to look promising for both days, so we will give it a couple more days before locking in a venue and day...If it's Saturday it's likely we will be at Nth Kirra, Sunday we will hit Currumbin.
So come down have a sausage and check out what the new club is all about.

Somehow after the other night i ended up with about 5 million SEQ Wavesailing forms.
I had better fill one in then hey. Earn my sausage. Good work fellas. See you there.
Sweet, it's gotta be good for the sport and our own interest and skills. For god sake we can't have Aussie titles being awarded for barrell rolls (being liberal with the plural here) any more surely!
Looks awesome! Been talking about this with mates for years but until recently joining up here and meeting lots of fellow wind junkies who are into wave/freestyle, I didnt really think thee would be any people keen!!!
Sounds great - its looking killer for saturday!!! Whats the plan? Nth Kirra?>
We have now recieved notification of our affiliation with Windsurfing QLD, so all systems are well and truly go.
I must say a big thanks to Darryl Mears (DAM71) for all the work he did in setting up Bayside, and hence all the information we had access to that made the process far easier than it would have been had we done it all from scratch.
Also thanks to Jesse Wales - our secretary, Mary-Anne Wales - our treasurer and Kirk Koster, for all the assistance in getting everything set up. And finally to the boys from WQ for the help along the way.
Given the forecast for Saturday is NNW the call is for Nth Kirra.
We will be there from mid morning and will look to throw a few snags on the BBQ from about lunch, looking forward to seeing a heap of new and old faces.
For the sunny coast guys, don't despair. We are already considering our second event and hope to have something running up there in December, so stay tuned. Also by Friday you should be able to pick up a membership form from some of the shops up that way...stay tuned.
Thanks Jamie.
I must say it is a wlecome relief that you are finally up and running. I hope the club has the interest and success that Bayside has experienced. I will try to get along to one of your meets and maybe in the future we can all do something combined.
Cheers
Darryl

sunday THE ALLEY (perfect starboard tack down the line wavesailing)
yeeeehaaa
Scot is correct - As far as SEQ Wavesailing is concerned, to participate in events you only have to pay any event fee and be a fully insured member of one of the other WQ affiliated clubs.
This weekend we are not charging any event fee as the day is pretty much just a BBQ to get new members to sign up with the club, however for peace of mind we would prefer all sailors coming along did posses some sort of third party insurance. In the coming months we will be running competitive events on both the Sunshine and Gold Coast, which will have an event fee to cover things like BBQ's and the like.
a membership card would be a great idea, if u were to be competing in several different club competitions
Yeah could be...or we can use a honour system. If you get caught being dishonourable you get beaten and you near lifeless body is used at Mermaid Beach to distract the sharks while the rest of us sail.
I'm sure we will come up with something, early days yet grasshopper.
I just thought a nice little flashy card would look pretty dam cool. Like one for each different club.
Hey Up there. Cards are great but they add to the cost of running the club. This is why you don't have a bayside card. We use the AWA member list which your name will appear on, along with your level of insurance, sail number and club.
But I do like Jamie's honor system
Its Friday (I think) so has anybody decided if and where the first get together is going to be ? Or do we roam up and down the coast till the smell of sausages lures us to the beach ?
Yep, as posted about half way through the thread we are hitting North Kirra tomorrow!!!
It would seem Jr F is going to be there early...maybe he will sleep there who knows.
And while it wont be an official event day Sunday is looking good for Currumbin, just have to pray for some of that swell that has been hitting down south to make its way north.
So everyone is going really early in the morning by the sounds of it.
I'm thinking of going down in the afternoon (work til 12). As the wind shifts NW to N during the day, will it still be good conditions for Kirra or should I go somewhere else? Never been to Kirra before, so I wouldn't know.
