When I have been racing at RQYS, I have been allowed to go inside to rig and launch. You go to the front office and advise them that you are there for the regatta. They give you a temporary gate code which only works for one day. You can then drive in and go all the way to the beach inside the RQ complex.
They have a gate to get access to the beach when you have riged. Ther is a lot of space inside for parking and rigging.
I know I'm going to be outgunned, and probably not even planing, however racing sounds like fun, so I think I'll be there (not that anybody really needs to know).
What PFD must I have?
Does anyone know if there be PFD's to hire/Borrow? or do you have to bring your own? (I dont own one!!) Also if sail nembers are req'd, can they be obtained on the day?
OK guys,
On behalf of both Goodtime and Royal Queensland yacht squadron i would like to thank Scott and windsurfing QLD for their assistance in helping us promote this event it will be a fantastic day for all involved. all family members are welcome to come down and join in with the festivities and have a go on the SUP's and have a go at windsurfing and get a free feed.
Regardless of the weather the event will proceed, there is plenty to keep you interested. Lets pray for wind...
NOTE:
The event is at Royal Queensland Yacht Squadron most southern club at the harbour, NOT THE POINT AT MANLY (rose bay). You can all drive you cars in, there are amenities and a grassy rigging area.

Alright I'm in. Registered online just now so hope that's not too late or anything. 13 knots is so marginal it's not funny. Was tempted to list the crew of the Pequod (Moby Dick) as my crew but I'm taking this very, very seriousry.
How did the day go down there? Was there enough wind for the event? Hope you all had an enjoyable day.
What a great day of Windsurfing at an awesome venu. The wind was a little on the light side but that didn't stop everyone from having a great day and it was no issue for the better sailors. Congrats to Brad, Simon and Pierre for coming first, second and third respectively in the windsurfing fleet.
Also a huge thank you to Luke for organizing the event, RQ for hosting it, Goodtime for sponsoring it and Wayne for running the course.
Great to see so many people getting behind the event and all of the new faces down there learning about the sport we all love. Events like this are great in that they raise the profile of the sport and allow newcomers to have the opportunity to get on a board and try it out. Well done to all involved.
I didn't get planing once (well maybe for about 1.5 sec's) but I wasn't last to the first mark, and I still had fun. ;-) (I wish I had a couple more square meters sail though). Thanks Guys.
Thanks luke , great location plenty off room to rig , pitty the wind did not fill in more. But I am sure everybody enjoyed themselves. Sorry could not hang around but had things on I could not get out of.
