Hi Folks,
Christmas is coming! So we are getting in early and booking your calender for our December social day before somebody else does.
For December we are back at Lake Weyba. New members to the club will appreciate how good this venue is for parking and rigging space. The only catch is the lack of toliets.
We are also making this our Xmas get together and break up so stay tuned for plans of the day. Allow a little more time into early evening to have a BBQ and Beer late in day.
Friends and family are welcome as always. And bringing along somebody that is wanting to just have a go is always encouraged.
Hopefully the winds gods will just us a good breeze.
Cheers

General question - how do we go for depth at Lake Weyba? If I'm on 45cm fin am I going to hit the bottom?

From the thread on Windwanders
Looks like
Sat = Morgan
Sun = brad and Jeff
Tough call?
Other candidates = preferences or any day ok?
Cheers Jeff
It is a tough call ! Given it is not clear to move to Saturday and some folks already have commitments Saturday nite, I propose we stay with Sunday.
We will have a Toliet at the lake.
If club members would like to nominate if they would like to bring something to share for our club Xmas day lunch it will be greatly appreciated.
Cheers

I can bring some lions club Xmas cake and expresso coffee
You can do a lot of sailing on Xmas cake and coffee
Cheers Jeff
At this stage the forecast looks like the wind could be any strength from any direction on Sunday. Who's coming?
Great! Will see everyone there. looks like some breeze forecast.
Location is the Northern end of Lake Weyba Drive. 10ish. Some arrive earlier.
I'm up here in Noosa for the week from Sydney - unfortunately without gear.
Any chance I could join in on Sunday?

No worries, just come to the lake we'll get you on a board
Lovely time at Weyba and great friends thanks Bryn for draging all bbq etc gear. Jonese and Peter great job on instruction the improvers. Fantastic photos by Gav....can't wait for the next one...Januari FreeRace month...note it on your rearview mirror ??
Was interesting tweaking the set ups and having a sail on the big learner boards...big difference between the Green and Blue one!
It's pretty hard for learners to push their progression when the wind isn't consistently co operating, but there is massive improvement from all that I saw!
Highlight of the day was Jeff's 'lay down' gybe...he 'literally' took the laydown seriously,

Had time of my life yesterday
Must admit I felt anxiety turning up with a new board - again!!!
Sailed on one board one sail all day - got to be happy with that
Jonesy taking my board for a run was reassuring for me when he reported the setup was very close to trim
Sailing with a friendly gang was a joy - had some long runs with more experienced sailors. I'm not as fast a Pete and Jonesy - always next year
Weyba really delivered - wind was gusty at times, less chop in the middle compared to Cootharaba and Bribie passage
"Lay down gybe". - yes - must remember to loosen the foot in the strap first. I'm off to X-ray today after a very long night with a throbbing foot
Disasterous trip home...
When I got a FLYING OBJECTS board bag little did I realise...
I'll post the story in another thread - minimal damage
So only a little hiccup to a a very memorable day
Thanks everybody a great time
Cheers Jeff
