I've been thinking about getting back into slalom sailing. something around 135lt. bay/ocean blasting. might finish off the design during the doldrums.
yeah it's a solid option. I kinda miss my formula board for those lightwind days.
is that photo from Jenifer ave?
Justin, you really need to sail more work less love to see you more on the water good spot you have at VP plenty of GC boys sailing there lately for you to drag race & some slow Springer boys ha ha.
Iv even been going there twice this month.
i think you're right.
I think I need to retire too.... :-)
mid weeks pretty much out for me unless work is real quiet. there is also netball, drum lessons, bike rides yada yada yada for the kids on the weekends. spend a bit of time in the recording studio myself as well.......
last time I sailed VP was just before windfest. if it's a low tide you'll never see me there. sometimes I see some of the speed guys packing up when I'm getting ready to go out.
my light wind weapon is my sup with a 5.8m or paddle in the surf.
Da vecta. Yes I'll be at the lake. It will be good to meet you. Was that you on the broadwater last Friday on your raceboard? I was on the slalom kit. Had a white severne turbo sail. We sailed past each other briefly. I followed you for a while but then u headed upwind and I couldn't match it. Steve.
Hi Steve, Yes, I think I did see you. Can you make it out for a late sail on Sat or Sun arvo? ...light wind training. I need it!
Gestalt, it would be great to see you on a Longy too. Again, sorry it didn't make it up to Burrum. Next year!!
you know it almost happened. there was a speed board on ebay about 6 months ago that I had a go at winning. martin paid a princely sum for it and I bailed a few hundred before him. it turned out to be a lemon so he asked for a refund.
I got the sup instead of a longboard. I still miss my formula board so maybe one day i'll get another formula board. who knows......
the racing at burrum seemed like it was a big success. the guys setting the courses did a fantastic job. next year it's on again so fingers crossed more raceboard guys take the plunge. all report are that we will have a bigger one design fleet next year as well. again it will most likely be the windsurfer state titles venue.
I was a little worried leading into the comp that the large tide variances would end up catching us out. that turned out to be not the case. as a venue it was excellent. racing right off the beach in front of the spectators and local families.
anyways, we will see what next year brings. there are a few of us fully committed to course racing staying on the calendar and growing. it seems there may also be the opportunity to hold a national title there at some point.
long and short of it, i highly recommend it for you guys next year. it was a lot of fun this year.
damn you wineman!!!!
actually, there was a sneaky SW wind this morning. we need to be vigilant!
so my boredom continues.
Watch out John there's another Gun from Brisbane. The only way I could get past Steve was to hit him, not just once, but twice on port tack . The second time though I was just demonstrating how not to approach the top mark on port!
Cheers Steve some good practice today. You've got that thing working very well.
Brendan. Nice meeting you today and I enjoyed our light wind sail. Apparently the wind hit 14kts at the seawall? It always read high? Must be the position?
Yes we bumped a couple of times. All good fun. Your port tack upwind left me for dead. Thanks for the downwind tips to re mast track. i was sinking the tail.
Looking forward to the lake. C u there. Steve.
for my money the seawall reads about 6-7 knots higher. that's why it's always windy on the god coast. :-)
I'm going tomorrow for a supsail on the sunny coast. will see how that plays out.
cheers,
will see if I can get it built. not sure on the final design but I wouldn't mind exploring an exocet d2 influence. had talked with pete about longboard ideas before xmas but never did anything further than that.
will be getting the slalom board I posted earlier built. looking forward to that.
