You guys... At least you could try the real magazine review approach, where every sail comes out a winner.

Is this going to be like the Loft 2012 review?

From Antoine's FB... looks nice. Very clean luff.

Interesting they keep the integrated clew on when I don't think I ever saw Antoine or Quentel ever do it up once this year...

Yes certainly, going to be more higher speeds on wednesday! Emailed Pryde about the new 5.0 and 5.4's. As ideal mast is an RDM. Will be very interesting how different these will feel from past years. Dad is getting a RDM 400cm for his 5.4 but im am going to try my RDM 370cm in mine first. This will be one interesting test as we both ride the same boards/fins and sails. Might also try my SDM 400 and 370 in these new speed sais too.

Hi Izaak,

You would be able to use the RDM 370 mast on the EVO5 5.4. It would make the sail a little softer but at the same time also a little more powerful.

Izaak , what N/P rdm are you going to use, i have found i have to use less down haul than recommended(N/P COMBAT RDM) on my EVO111 5.5 & 6.2, what you mite want to try with the EVO 5.4 is use a tip extension and use a 400, i have this setup with my 4.6rsr it give a similar feel as a sdm, i also use a bit longer mast extension, not sure if it helps to stiffen the bottom or if it psychological

Hey keef dad is buying a RDM 400cm X100 i think, to run on his 5.4. I'm planning to use my X6 370cm. Then see how it goes from there. I will probably end up buying a RDM 400cm. Recommend mast for the new 5.4 is RDM 400cm. But as Bijil said if i run my 370 it will be a little more powerful. Anyway see how some testing goes when i get to try it out

Had some contact with Jacques van der Hout who helped testing the new Evo V speedsails. He told me that the proto 5.4 worked best with the X9 370 RDM. He also advised me to use the production 5.4 with the 370 RDM. From what I understand the sail doesn't work with SDM masts.

Well here they are, the 7.0 and 7.8, used them both today in an average session at Safety Bay.

Initial inpressions are very positive, the sails are powerful but easy to handle. Very Stable and a small tweak of outhaul makes a noticable difference in power and the balance of the sail.
As usual the construction was of the usual very high Pryde standard with the only change I would like to see being the addition of the allen key adjusters to all the cammed battens so we can adjust batten tension with the sail rigged.

Izaak i would be interested to see how the 5.4 rigs on a sdm, N/P are saying the rdm is recommended, so i take it that the luff has been cut to suit the rdm as well as smaller cams ,
in the past i have found you loose a good bit of bottom end using the recommended settings with a RDM,
also are the cams different , what happens with the standard cams on a rdm the ends of the cams protrude past the mast and can tare the luff, also you can break battens because the cams dont pop off as well ( you need to take the cams off before letting all the down haul off)
in the past N/P have recommended a specific mast, so it looks like there changing there tune a bit , e,g my 5.5 evo111 they recommend either a 370 or a 400 "399 luff", to my way of thinking a sails luff is cut to a specific mast bend, and i cant see how your going to get the same mast curve and flex by using a 370 with a 29cm extension, maybe i should send this off to N/P and get a few answers
