Got my new toys today 2014 IS97 and IS110.
Got to try the 97 today very different board to my 2012 model.
Found it loser in the tail maybe because of the reduce tails width and the new tail design.
Todays peak speed 36.5 and 5x10 35.5 pretty happy first time out.
Hopefully I get to test the 110 tom

Hallo Vando,
a friend of mine is struggling between the new 107 and 97. He'd like the 97 but is scared about 7,8 use. Did you feel the new 97 will fit fine that sail size with no big loss compared to the bigger 107? And,how about the chance to sail it with a 6,3? Please keep us informed about the 110 as well.

Haven't used the new one with the 7.8 but used the old one a fair bit with the 7.8 works fine.
I used a 38 C3 sting2 in 15-20 but you could go 40 if you wanted to sail it in lighter conditions

The tails look so narrow compared to last year. But the specs say they are roughly the same. I guess it's where they take the measurement from. Definitely wouldn't need to go bigger in fin size and like you said maybe even one size smaller. Very interesting!! Looking forward to the 110 review....

Had my first run on the new 110 last Sunday which was our first race for the season as well.
Would have liked to sus things out abit first but no time so just put everything in the recommended posi.
I managed to take out the first heat, The board felt great and sat nicley on the water straight away. Wind was around 20knots and I was using the 7.8 and C3 Viper 44 which match perfectly in the choppy conditions. ended up 3rd overall which is not too shabby for it's first outing.

All the 2014 boards have been designed to carry bigger sails this year. Especially the 107 which has been widened to better suit the 8.6 which is the combo that all the PWA guys want to use it with.

I haven't tried the new 97 yet, but the 2013 one was perfect with a 7.8 (actually my favourite combo from the whole range!!) and the new wider tails (wider where your feet are, not the actual wetted surface area) should suit bigger sails so I'm confident the 7.8 will be sweeeeeeeeeeet on this new 97.

Vando can confirm later!

I had a go of the new 107 carbon on a reflex4 7.8m and it felt on the big side for the board but ok. Yes,I am aware someone did win the lancelin classic on this combo.

Last year tried the older model 107 carbon with a 8.6m with a reflex4 and it felt for me anyway crap.

Again, off the wind was good but making headway upwind was very hard work.

For me rigging a big sail on too small a board makes the board sit very low in the water.

The old model 101 had a very wide tail and 63.5cm wide. I tried this board with a 7.7m and it just felt too big.

Go bigger board, smaller sail for more lift and enjoyment.

I agree. All previous 107's I hated with the 8.6m. Just sunk the board completely...

...the 2014 suits the 8.6m pretty nicely though and it's a really good combination to have for slalom 'racing'....albeit just for fun sailing I just stick with the 7.8m it will feel much more balanced.

You better hope they dont change the colour of the loft sail for next year as you have a nice colour match at the moment. :)

The iS130 with R4 and SR47cm put to proper use.

By the way, i had -2cm downhaul tension on the sail, what do you think? Does it need more?
It was rigged on a. Ew 2013 enigma 490.

Sausage, I have ordered the 49, 90 and 110. Last season I had 49,90,107 and 117. I am trying to get my quiver down to 3 boards, so this should cover it pretty nicely. Hopefully with my weight at 82kg the 110 should work well as my light-med board, 8.6 is my biggest sail. I missed the first order, next shipment should be here very shortly.
Shinobi, I rig all the R4 to the correct specs. Photo looks nice, what size is the R4.

Steve, the R4 is a 8,6. Used it for the 5th time I think but still haven't went down for recommended specs for all my R4 similar to the R3 from last year.

Shinobi, try downhauling to the recommended specs. I know it seems like a huge amount of downhaul but you will be very happy with how the sails feel. Second shipment of Isonics arriving in Australia this weekend

Nice looking boards aren't they Vando. i got my new 49 two months ago and have only had two sessions on it. My first bear away and i scored a 39knt peak. I'm looking forward to spending some time on mine in Shark bay this December. It's totally different to my old CA Speed50 it has replaced
