Don't forget to check the events calendar, you may need some other things to keep your minds off the lack of wind
www.everythinggeraldton.com.au/events/

I notice the surfing mums meet at 9.15 on the 23rd of October, that might be worth a visit.
Then you could head out to the Library rhyme time at 10.30.
Maybe slip by the Partners in recovery group at 11.
And then top the day off with a few lessons at the House of Jezebelles Burlesque dance Classes at 6pm www.google.com/calendar/render?eid=dmk1cWZuMTFzOHJtaXNrNXJybTQ0OHM3ZmtfMjAxNDEwMjNUMTAwMDAwWiAyZ2h0a3Bla210a29iaGlpNGdwamYyMzQ1b0Bn&ctz=Australia/Perth&pli=1&sf=true&output=xml

And don't forget No lights No Lycra on Friday night www.google.com/calendar/render?eid=M2phYzBqN25oMDUxcWp2ZGhnMGdycDZlY3NfMjAxNDEwMjRUMTEwMDAwWiAyZ2h0a3Bla210a29iaGlpNGdwamYyMzQ1b0Bn&ctz=Australia/Perth&sf=true&output=xml

G - advanced reconnaissance - report
Arrived Fri last & have created tent city at Sunset Beach CP. Have already done the touristy things such as Woolies, BSW and Bunnings. Sailed Sunset near Chapman River most afternoons (locals seem to go here - good grass rigging area and break just off) rigging up in the cp. from Sat. Missed Sun (25 - 30kts just S of W which is dead onshore - apparently there is a suitable spot for this direction closer to town but all we could see was white water seemingly just above reef - no one else out so we chickened out - Tim did they mean Pages Beach?) and Wed (no wind).
In general wind has been light say 14kts near break from S swinging a few degrees east and fading late afternoon. Swell started a little above boom height on Sat and dropped to virtually nothing yesterday. Unfortunately a good planning breeze yesterday. Weekend is forecast for wind and swell. Days warm, nights cool to cold, water warm, wind almost cool enough to be refreshing. Swell looks as if it will suit allcomers & doesn't have the punch of say Goats - so far anyway.
Locals use low 90's boards & low 5m sails for light stuff and don't go larger when it is light preferring to dog out & surf in. Probably dont have any gear larger anyway. You will all love the thick seaweed in the shorebreak. Bring your small gear - light wind - choppy water, gybing / tacking skills although normal breezes should be in soon.
I have advised local night clubs of the approaching typhoon & they are ready for your plastic.Local shop G Spot has gear (nearly all small) & repair facilities.
Haven't ventured further north as yet. Apparently you need a 4wd to get the last 2 kms into Coronation - will check it out soon.
Hurry.

Pete, great to hear you have finally arrived at our local spot. Enjoy the next week, after that you will be saying, 'I might as well just stayed home and heard the same crap'.
As far as sailing goes, for you guys just drive to Coronation Beach, north of town. Loads of fun, except Phil will want to buy a new(second hand) board.
Have fun
