It's starting to look like we might get a strong westerly on Friday. If the forecast holds I'm going to head up Thursday evening to be ready nice and early for Friday.

NW winds are usually NNW at Henty and too broad for the run. Really need the wind to be from the WNW (or further around to the SW to sail back the other way). At the moment the weekend is looking too NNW, whereas Friday should be from the W. I'm super keen to try a NM there, so would go even if not that windy as long as it's from the W (ie SW through to WNW). Howeever, the latest forecast doesn't look as good as the previous one. So far I've seen 4 changes in the forecast today, each one was looking better for Friday except the last.

Russ, I've got to come back Friday as am flying to Sydney Saturday morning (so Saturday may end up being the best dayt after all, knowing my luck)!

Friday isn't looking epic, but is still holding pattern with winds from the west, tending SW and then back to the west during the day. The weekend winds have eased a little in comparison. At this stage I reckon I will head up Thursday evening. Hopefully we can get a few there if the system holds.

I'm geared for speed now, just haven't had time to set the GPS up...I'd better hurry before the wind stops blowing.

Friday is now looking almost epic!!

I've taken the day off and am planning to head up Thursday evening, probably leaving Hobart around 4PM. Will then head back from Henty hopefully around 4-5PM Friday.

wonder if the bar is built up enough to be able to sail though the high tide (midday)we may be keen Saturday.

Hopefully the tide won't make any difference and the swell won't pick up too quickly to roll over the beach and into the run area. Should be OK I reckon. Last time was pretty exceptional with the heavy rain/snow and record ocean swells recorded off the coast.

Dave Friday does look epic, for Henty or Port Sorell for that matter. Buoy weather for Henty W 28-38 similar strength to Stanley today Wind guru W 31-41 Willy weather 32kts near gale, Seabreeze graphs Cape Sorell 36 kts 4m seas rising to 6.0m so it shouldnt be washing over the sand.
ps: Sat looks great for PS.

Russ has confirmed he'll be coming to Henty on Thursday evening for sailing Friday. So that at least makes two of us to try and get a good NM for the month. Sounds like Buzzy is still contemplating and Johno may be up for another work-day session.

Lankstar, yes Henty is not far from Strahan (about 25 minutes, including all the off-road tracks) and best to have a 4WD if you want to try and make it all the way in.

Hi Kaleb,

I have had no luck with Sim getting the leave pass

Sorry to let you guys down, I was so looking forward to cranking down the Golden Mile with you and Dave.

Best of luck and stay safe. I will be sailing in or around Hobart, so in my own way backing you guys up. Looking forward to your posts.

Kindest Regards Russ

Hope you guys get it good at Henty

That's no good Russ, at least there should still be plenty of wind down south (and up north). I wouldn't be surprised if they issue a Storm Warning for Friday
