Very hard for me to change plans, but if it looked good then I could make it. Its a bit far out to make the decision. Tomorrow I'll have more of an idea, Thursdays the day to make the call. Rule one of making windsurfing plans in Tas, never make a call outside of 4 days, 3 days out you can have a pretty good idea.
At the moment Friday looks the best for swell and a late arvo SW change. At this stage BOM is forecasting W to NW winds for Saturday up to 20 knots. Other models have it from the W to SW. See what eventuates, fingers crossed.
I'll say it before Barry does. This is a wavesailing thread not a Slalom sailors ski vacation thread
You're right Buzzy, I apologise for highjacking this Marrawah extreme wave sailing post..................so where will you be this weekend will we see you at BOL??????????????
Yeah - seriously looks good!!! Can't wait - anyone bring some gear that we can smash up on rocks. I am serious old **** I don't care - would funny as hell for video. Man its gonna be good to see you guys again. I get over there tomorrow morning. Will head to Marrawah then!!!!
The kitchen renoing might be put on hold this weekend, so if the forecast holds I may make an appearance.
Hit the water 7.30 - 8am Sunday morning
Anyone going to be sailing Bakers or Low head Saturday, looks a bit onshore for Marawah.
Houston, Pottsy, Felix you blokes should hang around up North Friday and Sat.
I will probably be around low head area on friday/saturday, then head over to marrawah for sunday with the current forecast.
I would have actually come up for the weekend for a look(at the old boy houston on the rocks) and sail(in the small stuff) but still dont have my van back
yeh its certainly looking like the VW's are no where near as reliable as the toyotas. But I suppose 'we' knew that already
I am here looks good forecast - i reckon. We will see what happens through the night. Hope to see you guys - You know BOL is 99% the place I will be with this forecast.
I'll see you about 1pm Friday at Greens, if you head to BOL before I see you see me send me a text.....I'm actually sh.tting myself, forecast for Sunday morning looks bloody epic 7-8m swell SW wind..............sh.te
Ant,
have fun but please stay safe 8m swell would have me s.itting myself.
The red bull riders will be Tasmanian this weekend! Our boys!!
Everyone that makes their way out in those conditions is a legend in my books.
Will the gps be on? Could be some fast runs down the line .
Would you use a quad in those conditions or a trusty single fin board?
Enjoy it at your own pace mate and try to pick the kind waves.
Cheers Rusty
7 - 8 metre swells!!!!! I'm slowly piking it, I'm not ready to die yet Looking very westerly, I thought BOL was only good in S - SW Might be a stay home and sail Sunday GPS sail for me. Haven't got my numbers up for August yet and it's looking pretty good westerly stuff down here Sunday.
So what is the best direction for BOL
I don't want to drive all the way up there and be so petrified that I only do 2 or 3 runs because of the huge swell.
Lot of distance & money wasted for sitting on my backside being a piker.
