Can't believe how well my home made long board is working, perfect size for this. Check out the vid below to see what i got up to today. I started on the foot path but ended up doing some very very long runs on the hard sand wind Jordan. Hopefully Jordan will build one shortly. Going all the time and it was only 10knots, still cant believe how well the wheels rolled on the sand.
Can't seem to view the vid but been looking at the idea since I sold my old one years ago. Got any plans?
Nick, there are a couple of great land/sand skate sail experts down Lauderdale way who have been doing this stuff for years. I think Aron has landed a forward in a soft pit?
Anyway they will have the plans/ideas for some good sand models.
Looks to be working in others as well as mine. It's probably cause you need to update QuickTime or something like that.
Ive landed a couple of involuntary head plants over the years
Sand sailing is great fun and a long board and most of the mountain boards make a good set up, just watch out for soft sand and tighten the trucks up to limit speed wobbles over 70k.
Plenty of old water skis for decks and golf buggy wheels at the tip shops.
Izaak that thing would handle sweet its so low to the deck...love it.
I have dad hooked now, he is making two carbon windskaters with really good ideal wheels ready for stanley
$360 bucks for a core 90 mountain board. delivered.
i just sold a second hand one for $180.--. i would get a turf dog if you can get any in AUS as they are meant to be great for learning some freestyle moves and grooves
looks cool.
would be good to catch up with you guys as i've been landboarding with kite for a few years and would like to check out your setup.
don't want to put you off but would suggest really take it easy at first. sounds stupid but land is just so unforgiving when hit at speed. i had plenty of safety gear but from now getting the hang of it, it's mostly just taking it easy learning land vs. water, and learning to control the setup, along with the safety gear.
i'm really mindful of just how much it hurts when you get it wrong, i've had a few minor spills, read about heaps of shockers, and i've learnt that ligaments and joints don't heal fast like the rest of the body :|
Sounds like good advise
$700.00 and worth every cent.!!, not like boards and sails .... you want break the nose off it, rip a panel out , or have it replaced by the next model to half its value.
Well there has been a bit of interest in this. One of my mates is going to order a turfdog straight from Eurpope in a few months ( our winter period).
I am thinking of a group order, anyone interested let me know as i imagine we might get them cheaper if we order in bulk. I dont mind organizing if we have sufficient numbers???
Wally, has anyone got one down south we could look at?
I take it they work well in winds that are too light for sailing
I'm definately up for one.
The really cool thing is the castor style front wheels, making it a great light wind simulator.
Be good to know if they do bulk discounts.
Houston I've seen guys practice forwards on these.
Along with heaps of other freestyle stuff. Check utube for turf dog.
Just need some grass and a small bump for a ramp.
Ben, are you sure that is freight free?. they say free freight in the USA. The freight would be more than the board!
Anyway i will try and get a price on the turf dogs in bulk.
