Hi Western Australians. I'm in a convoy of NSWelshies here to sample your awesome playground. At Esperance today and slowly heading north. Any spots you can please recommend between here and Perth for the forecast this week? Flat or waves. Any chance Albany or Peel will fire? Would love to catch up with anyone who's sailing. Any advice greatly appreciated!

Hi needsalt, looking forward to catching up with you guys when you hit the Peel.

Albany's looking possible for the weekend, but I don't think it's worth waiting around for it, unless you're enjoying being tourists in the area.
Tomorrow is looking like fun here, but that's a long drive. Friday is also possible, but we've grown to distrust forecasts that far ahead.
Gary has my number, text/phone me anytime, for an update.

Hmmm it is so late starting here, and weird weather this 'season', that I would not go with the traditional recommendations necessarily.
Albany looks good for a week with frontal west then half-baked seabreeze easterlies

Better than anywhere else with only 2-3 days sailing this coming week.....

Say hi if u make it to Geraldton

Thanks so much guys. We got out ahead of the fires yesterday and will be at Peel by early arv. Keen to meet anyone who's around!

Focus of the trip is Shark Bay so will definitely try to catch you at Gero Mark!

The awesome Eden crew in my convoy - Isaac, Chinaman and some random kiter. Others from further south still heading over after overcoming some technical difficulties.

Great to meet you today Nicole, and catch up with Simon and Gary, the random kiter seemed like a nice guy as well.
Everybody looked to be having fun.

Come back Nic, you missed yet another epic day of gusty 0-12 knots on the Macleay River...

Hope you score some great days. Big effort, big results. Will keep an eye on your travels on GSPTC.

No you didn't get it real flat Nicole, should have seen it today, wind was SSW tide was way out, real flat water from the end of Creery Island to almost the end of the Bay.
Fangy and I did NMs, in 2kms we probably didn't go over any bumps higher than 7cm and about 50% of the run, there were no bumps at all, mirror flat.

Mark I hope you are right - the eternal optimist in all windsurfers, but I am not sure the pattern has settled.
So far it has been similar to last year - 2 weeks of good sailing, then 2 weeks of troughing and nothing much in the way of wind.
Bummer for those on a 2 week on 2 week off roster if they are on the wrong cycle.

Where are all you 'strays' staying and sailing whilst in Albany?

Gaz, there's only 2 of them heading to Albany, and they'll be looking for the speed strip at the western end of the harbour.
They left Esperance this morning, so should be there soon, in a white Mitzy van and trailer.
Then they'll be looking for somewhere to camp.

Mat stuck in Kalgoorlie with broken gearbox. Might be there a while.....

I am proceeding alone and trying to catch up with the ever moving target of the other strays!

Looks like there will be some nice wind today again, and then on the the big smoke, although I may be slightly diverted by the promise of surfing a nice wave or two on the way!

What vehicle has he busted?, and does he need a hand to get to Perth? Got some time on my hands so can help out if needed. Even organising parts for him.

He has a early SWB sprinter Mineral, I sent him a text to let him know you may be able to help or at least offer some advice.

Cheers

Spotty did indeed let me know.... you wouldn't believe it, but there are nice buggers everywhere.

Gearbox is indeed somewhat closer to dead than I'd like... foot on clutch, no horrible grinding sound; foot off clutch and gear-stick in neutral, some horrible grinding teeth (of which arn't in my mouth).

Getting part-2 of the 900km tow from Border Village to Kalgoorlie, first thing Monday morning - with the intention of leaving it in a workshop to be looked at.

Mineral, thanks for the offer - the van isn't rolling (without holding my foot on the clutch for 750km), so not sure it can easily get to Perth. Any advice on whom to *not* take it to in Kal...? [ I would assume every mechanic there would know how to pull apart anything up to the size of a small skyscraper... ]

Mat, not sure up there who can help you out re Sprinter repair. Have left a message with mate who lives in Kalgoorlie. Soon as he calls I can let you know.
PM me your mobile number so I can talk direct
If we have to skull drag you to Perth, no bigun, I have a 105 cruiser to do the drag to Perth. Is it rear wheel or front wheel drive?

Bugger Matthew, that's not fun.

Dot says, that's worse than a prang in Murry Bridge, at least out insurance bought us a new vehicle, and we only got to Sandy Point 3 days late.

While waiting for the other strays, we had the pleasure of icy cold beers with Seabreeze icon Mark_australia. He looks surprisingly different when he doesn't have his finger jammed up his nose. Thanks so much for visiting Mark! Pleasure to meet you and look forward to catching up for a sail on our return trip
