I have 5 sessions on my 4.2m Strike. Only other wings I've used are Ozone WASP v1.
Overall, I am happy with my purchase and plan to keep it.
Pros:
Light, well balanced, good upwind, good to luff out and ride on waves, well placed and comfortable handles, good inflate, deflate, good power, handles gusts well.
Cons
Recovery from catching a wing tip, especially at speed, is really difficult. Wasp v1 was much easier to recover.
Tacking/upwind is more difficult because the wing tends to lift in the transition and it's difficult to transition through the wind window. I'm not a pro at this, but could do 9-10 tacks on the Wasp v1. Maybe just need more time with tacking the Strike.
I heard it would be available in Frnace in mei.
I have seen strange pics of it, with inflatable struts near the tips... they talk about a very different concept
I took the pic of the orange mango colored wing on the 26 of march at a lake in the south of france , the guy using it said it was the strike 6m , seems more like a proto to me ! He didn't say anything else about it, no idea what the inflatable struts near the tips are for ! Maybe a beginner wing ? Thats the impression i got on seeing it being used ,The rider was ok but no expert, (made 1 out of 2 gybes ) .
Anyone know the wingspan on the Strike 5m? I had a 5m Swing and it was pretty big for my short arse!!
I got to test the 5m Strike today. I don't like the big Wingspan and didn't like the wing apart from how light it was. Lots of people do like it at the beach but its not for me. I didn't like my fone Swing 5m which had a really poor low end. Wings are very personal. I like lightweight and compact wingspan. Takoon and Slingshot v2 being my favorites atm..
I understand ur point. Also in doubt about the strike 6m wingspan as it might be too big
i also see the takoon keep the WS quite short. Any feedback on the 6m takoon? Thanks
Yesterday had my first runs on the Strike 3.5. Very impressed. We had some stout NW winds 25-35 knots, I was overpowered riding the 3.5 with Armstrong 1050 but handling was great. Jumping the Strike shines. We had good chop for launching combined with the crazy winds so got some nice hangtime. I have tried with my Swing 3.5 and there is no lift. The Strike just pops. The stiff handles work great when you are handling from it sitting in the water to getting it overhead. Upwind is improved over the Swing. The Strike engages power quickly on jibes. Took the 3.5 back out later on small local lake that was crazy gusty but flat. Its amazing can still jump like crazy.
I am buying a 2.8 Strike , LOL
Anyone know how the Strike 5.0 compares to the Naish 5.3/6.0 S26? Currently have a S25 6.0 for light wind. Lets say 10-20kn. Miss the low end power for the size in that S25 6.0.
So thinking switching to either S26 5.3 of 6.0 or F-One Strike 5.0. Read a lot of positieve things about it.
(Of maybee Strike 6.0 if the wingspan is not to huge)
Also like to know about the wing span...the Naish wing span is really on the max for me. Does the Strike has a bigger wing span for example?
