Session out on the River in Perth WA, crazy frontal conditions throughout the day with some 35+ knot fronts, 200km down south they recorded 101km/h gust, so a good choice to go on the River, surprisingly steep wind chop that was quiet annoying to sail through as the period between waves was so short, a Longer mast definitely helped.
This is my first ever video of me winging and I started this year so any tips or recommendations of what makes a good video will be appreciated, tried to compile 1 hrs of footage into a shorter clip from the 3hr session on the water :)

The westerly winds have started blowing, and Nai Harn is filling up with wind, and swell again, creating lots of backwash from the surrounding mountains' rocks. We have certainly foiled cleaner days' waves here before, that's for sure, but enjoyed trying to carve out some lines in this swash nonetheless.
Jellyfish & ocean debris served as additional obstacles intent on challenging the chop navigation further. When you're accelerating down the face of a confused wave, the last thing you want to see is a huge translucent Medusa head, staring up at the line of your advancing foil's descent. Thankfully, all those years of playing Pacman, were not in vain.

Side by side riding my Veloce XXL (1900sq cm/107cm) and my Veloce LT (1340sq cm/90cm) in about the same conditions. Making a few more of my behind-the-back tack attempts and even trying a new move. I tend to look hilarious and full kook when trying anything new.
Most wingers have been sizing down their largest (light wind) foil as they improve, but I haven't convinced myself to get rid of my Veloce XXL....yet. I still have plenty of fun using it in lighter conditions, and even cross-over conditions where I can get away with using my smaller LT.
You're making that XXL turn really well Dave, not a very noticeable difference between the two in the video. Amazing what you can get done in such a small space!

As much as the turning looks similar, the XXL definitely requires some practice and finesse to get it to carve more aggressively. On the plus side it wants to stay on foil no matter how slow I get, and I feel like it actually makes me a better rider on the smaller foil. With the GoPro Max I have to stay pretty close to the camera or I turn into a small spec quickly, so I turn frequently

hey marc, i was on the 2nd wake... i find the 1st wake usually has a lot of surface chop... this one was pretty choppy as well and I was just keeping up... turns weren't super comfortable. i bugged off and came back on the 3rd or 4th wake and that had a little less energy and was more tolerant of turns. 2nd wake i was close enough to have a conversation with the guys on the back of the boat if they were paying attention.
funny thing later I got on the wake of the Pacific Pearl... a boat I was on in December 2021 for a crabbing and fishing charter. Looking maybe to book one of these boats next week for salmon

The Molokai 2 Oahu Race was cancelled again this year and a shorter course on Oahu took it's place- The BlueWater Hawaiian Classic. The organizers set up a special, shorter course for SUP foilers to be able to race in the bumps- from Portlock Point to the Windsock at Kaimana. They also opened the race to Wing Foilers and we ended up having the biggest field yet of foiler racers on Oahu gather at the start off of Portlock Point.
The video voiceover touches on the history of the race, training, participants, equipment used, technique and strategy, results and more.

Also worth mentioning Thailand just legalised cannabis, might have to take a holiday 
My first wing foil slalom championship organised by UK Windsurfing at Stokes Bay, UK on the 20th of August 2022. We've had 10 races, 3 of which I missed due to the wrong gear selection (5.5 Slick was not enough for me) so I ended up racing on my 7m Slick which was way too big at times but I managed to finish 6th out of 12 overall.
It was great to see what level other wingers are and that juniors are pushing hard and realised that I'm not fast at all
Next step is to get an ultra high aspect foil and learn how to push harder
Freshly crowned Defi Wind winner Bastien Escofet just returned to WA from competing in Europe over the summer and is showing off his new bag of wing foil tricks.
