Hahahaha, yes it seems that way. I thought arguing with people for fun in the SUP forum was fun, it seems that all along there has been a far more volatile and rowdy bunch in this one. Even Oliver seems like he can really let loose in here......

Thanks Doggie.

Hey, you know who could really start some trouble is Husq1000 or whatever he calls himself. I always check his comments as they are sure to be great fun. Does he post in here??

Oliver: I don't watch TV or buy the paper, so this is the first time I learnt of this disaster. Thanks to E.J. for posting that up. I've never lived through a natural disaster (other than a few small cyclones), and that makes me feel very lucky every time I learn of a disaster like this.

#1 Without watching the Doctor's post because I think superstition is bad luck I did some thinking, and some very minor research, and this closer than usual moon rose over Japan 6 hours before the big quake hit. It was overhead when the big one hit. I think it is very plausible that the moon can trigger earthquakes. It moves entire oceans around.

#2. I cannot believe how many earthquakes they are having. Every 15 or so minutes, 5+ on the scale:

I've done some research too and found that during these SuperMoons or lunar perigee moons a lot of changes are going on with the gravitation pull on the Earth in a relatively short period of time, like on December 31, 2009 there was a SuperMoon, and on January 30, 2010 there was an extreme SuperMoon. Guess what happened in between the two? A major earthquake, a 7.0 in Haiti on January 12th.

Recently, on February 18, 2011, there was a SuperMoon, and on March 19, 2011, an extreme SuperMoon will occur, Guess what happened in between? a major earthquake, 8.9 (some people think it may be upgraded to a 9.1) magnitude near the coast of Japan on March 11, 2011. Right in between the two!
So we have a SuperMoon, followed by a major earthquake, followed by an extreme SuperMoon. Pretty coincidental?? Or what.?

I wonder if this could this have caused extra stress on the Earth's tectonic plates? there have been a lot of studies on whether earthquakes on our planet were triggered when the moon was closest to Earth, scientists have studied the moon for decades and no conclusive evidence has ever been found for that,

In fact the Earth isn't the only one in danger of shaking, there's seismic activity on the Moon also, these were detected by seismological instruments left on the moon by the Apollo astronauts, there was some effect but it wasn't enormous, but the moon did quake near perigee.

The term "SuperMoon" is used to describe a new or full moon at 90% or more of it's closest orbit to Earth. Next week the moon will be at 100% and a bit closer (356,000klms)from earth or {1/4,000%)closer to earth than last year's...
And some people recon it'll bring a scary surge in natural disasters around the globe.
although numerous scientists have reassured the public that there's absolutely no correlation between disturbances on Earth and this rare lunar phase.
next weeks full moon is supposed be purely cosmetic and a sight to behold...
I fkn hope so.....

We all know that the moons gravity affects the tides, so when it's the full moon wouldn't the extra weight of the water on the tectonic plates make them move? Is that how it works or is it a direct result of of the moons gravity on the plates?

doggie, where you have one tectonic plate slipping under another, on a low tide there's less water, so the pressure on the sea floor is smaller. that pressure is clamping the fault together, so when it's not there it makes it easier for the fault to slip...

The super moon comming on the 19th march , is a one in 18 year event.

sorry for repeating myself , but i would rather repeat myself than someone else

we have about 6 super moons a year , but this is a super super moon that is comming

should be very worth watching if no clouds around on the night .

I find it hard to believe that in this day and age people would build a nuclear power station that depends on an active power supply for safety. It strikes me as stupid.

All these terrible tragedy's around the globe - Tsunamis, Earth quakes, Floods, Mud Slides and Fires. All in a such a short space in time. The world is talking to us and may be saying - ease up! What ever the message or not, its a mess and Japans the latest tragic victim...

Not sure if that is true but I heard from my friend that tsunami was act of revenge.
All whales from around that world conglomerate around Japanese Island and given time synchronized jumped above the water to cause this enormous splash.
Don't know, but arrogance against nature could be harmful.
