Well, it goes witout saying that basically 99% of wife's don't want their partners to get a motorcycle... And it also goes witout saying that 99% of guys want a motorcycle.
So, with that said.. who out there has a bike and what does their partner think of it ?Was it a long battle to convince them of the idea??
I always had a motor bikes when I was younger. I was the only one of my friends that didn't have a major accident. I can recall at least three occasions where I missed almost certain death by a split second. I got rid of it when the kids came along for obvious reasons.
Funny thing is that nobody really ever has strong opposition against you riding a bicycle. I would be even more scared to ride a bicycle in traffic than a motorbike.
Then again, when I had my motorbikes, I used to use them for everything. If you only want one to go for a Sunday morning cruise on less busy roads, that would be a much easier sell.

The solution is:- Make sure you have adequate life insurance
Make sure you have a up to date will
Wives usually fear loosing the bread winner so fix that situation and
Ride Long, Ride Hard
Just back from a service and new tyres ready to go again. The wife has horses so no dramas with getting my own toys, if its something you want just do it.
my wife hates that i ride, especially since the kids were born, but doesn't hassle me about selling my bike. but we live in the bush & i only ride country roads- i'd probably get rid of it if we were in the city/burbs.
i'd also suggest you do some time on a dirt bike to hone your skills & reflexes before you get a road bike...
I had two nice KTM,s and smoked, my missus said she wouldnt marry me and have kids till I gave up both the fun she provides is way better than any bike or smoke can provide and its free
I don't have a bike but was talking to a guy last week who's wife must be an exception to the rule. He told me that she loved him having a bike and talked him (although didn't take much) into buying a Harley recently.
I had bikes for years before I met my now wife. She doesn't have a problem with me getting another one. The hard part was convincing her to sell hers after seeing the way she rode!
My wife grew up around motor bikes, her father and brothers all raced then. Had a bike when we met and always made sure that when I changed bikes I got something that we could ride two up. She was always a great passenger, small lady, never knew she was there half the time. she loved going fast and really leaning into the bends.
Sold the bike when we moved to the beach as we had nowhere to keep everything out of the salt air. Too many toys.
Maybe the 1% who do, don't want the husband??? I had bikes but I was too dangerous for them..

I've got 3. One road and two trail. My wife's joy. I asked her the other day if she minds me getting another 450. Her response was I don't mind if it makes you happy. Only problem is I'm running out of room in my shed.
You need to find a better stat man.
In my experience, 99% of men don't like chicks who have more toys than they do. They complain a lot about women who don't understand their toy obsessions, but in reality, they'd much rather be with a woman who stays at home, cleans the house and patiently waits on the beach ready to fuss over them when they come off the water. Oh well. Living alone makes room for more toys so I'm sure it's all working out for the best
Maybe hire a cool bike and take your partner away somewhere for a weekend?

Wife is supportive of my kites and bike... etc etc. She wouldn't win if she told me to sell it anyway 
She's even promised to buy me a paraglider if I lose enough weight
At least you can ride you bike when you want
As long as shes ready to ride when every you want ,,, you may have a solution.

Nothing ! They're both great fun to ride as long as your mates don't see you.....
By the way I have the solution to owning bikes that are wwwaaaayyy too powerful for my liking now. I have a 1942 Indian Scout and the main problem is stopping the sucker
it took months of convincing for my wife to let me get my learners.. and even then she was less than impressed
now fully licensed I'm still not allowed to buy a bike! haha
I am hoping to get a trail bike in the next year or so as she is less worried about my ridding skills than she is about other road users.
for now I live with the occasional ride on my dads bike

11% were not wearing helmets
41% were involved in single vehicle crashes,
22% were involved in head on or overtaking crashes and

Motorbikes would appear to be more dangerous than wives. And more dangerous ...than most things I can think of. Even guns.

One stat I would like to see is the percentage of scooters (presumably they come under the "motorcycle" heading) involved in crashes and a breakdown of the type of injuries. I do like the European look of a young, attractive, mini-skirted and short sleeved lady on a scooter but they must surely figure quite highly in the crash stats -- along side the male version of that group.

Looks up the stats on scissors and stairs and other household accidents. And we all spend much more time in the house.
