I think that the Doc was just trying to get Laurie's topic locked...that would be ironic.

The brainwashing was still on when i got back, so i had a quick glance at the personals while having to listen to the trivial drivel that they feed the sheep.

Dang! More coffee sneezed over the keyboard.
So the personals are more than just trivial drivel??

Now there's an interesting idea .. I think it would be of value, but think it might indirectly create animosity between crew?

Your thoughts?

(And anybody want to be the moderator?! )

That wasn't you deciding to take the dog for a walk. That was the chem trails doing their job. They spray at night now. You're addicted to it.

I though that's what this thread was.

I really think it should be a separate forum though so that any topic in any forum which was drifting that way could simply be transplanted to "The Angry Corner" forum, or "Heavyweight issues" forum.
The topic need not be started in this forum. They can start anywhere and just be transferred to it when they are deemed not appropriate for the forum they started in.
I know some people don't like reading stuff like that but it is pretty obvious from the number of times these threads pop up, the number of replies to these topics and the number of hits on them, those topics are of interest to many people.
The fact is, a lot of those topics are discussing important issues which affect the society we live in and although this is a water sports forum, the people in it are still members of that society.
To tell them to naff off to some other forum to discuss other topics is in effect, telling your client base to go elsewhere.
I fully agree that the boss of the website has the right to do that but I would question whether it's the right thing to do. Once people go elswhere for one or two things they tend to stay there for a lot more than those one or two things.
I am also aware that the people who are offended by that sort of stuff will still look at those topics just so they can be offended and then complain about it. That's just part of the human condition.

As far as creating animosity between the crew, most people who get steamed up about some comment or someone else's point of view get over it pretty quickly.
It's all just words and when I read something way off the scale I just shake my head in disbelief and move on.

Regarding who should be moderator, you should appoint someone who is an expert in each field to moderate any post relevant to their area of expertise.
For instance;-
topics on chemtrails would have to be pm33.
topics on conspiracies, well again,.. pm33.
topics on the new world order, ummm,.. pm33
topics on financial management and silver aquisitions,,.. umm,.. pm33 and flysurfer.
gee,.. topics on anything wierd and unbelievable really,..pm33

No more animosity than builds up before we get to threads in the existing forums, and/or already exists between certain members and is not likely to abate any time soon.

Another forum I browse has just such a subforum and it works pretty well for keeping it isolated. Letting the stuff go on leads to some massive rage building up though, and there's yet another subforum where rage goes to get locked and die.

I think it could work here too, though we wouldn't need the third 'head explody' forum, we can just nuke or lock rage in place when it gets out of hand.

As for a set of rules, they will have to evolve to suit the site, but I suggest we just validate the leniency we've been giving in here in the new one, and perhaps extend it a bit further, but stick to the same sort of 'unofficial' tolerance that has built up over the last couple of years.

Oh, and I am happy to volunteer to be a moderator (on night shift).

Why not All Forums > alt > arts > er... (oops, sorry, got caught in the wayback machine for a moment )

Is there a way to prevent Google caching a subforum? The internet seems to have a long memory, and I'd hate someone to be reminded time and time again if they got carried away in a discussion.

Is there a way to limit the number of posts an individual can make in each topic? It would be interesting to see the effect if someone can only post twice in the same thread.

Can you make the subforum only visible if the user is logged in too? If the content is not watersports based, it might not be a bad idea to keep it less visible, at least from outside potential visitors.

Can we have a section for talking about the positives of the NBN and a different section for dial-up modems?

That vid was really off. I just felt there was something missing from it - as in what happened leading up to all that aggression. Whatever happened it obviously got quite a few unconnected people pretty upset. One of my fears of catching public transport is getting unwillingly caught up in a carriage with some of these low lifes.

Another thing we have Little Johnny to thank for. His "too much political correctness" speech encouraged all the cockroaches to come out from the skirting boards, and we have the devil's own job to chase them outside now.
If I'd been on that bus, I'd have been thinking: "the things you see when you haven't got a gun..."
But seriously, it's about time the decent majority started standing up to these scum. My resolution: if ever I come up against this, I'll confront it. I'm not built for fighting, quite frankly the prospect scares me, but if we want to keep this country the wonderful place it is we all have to stand up for it.
