It looks photshopped, kind of computer generated looking.
on the way home that night was very different feeling.
Windmill tower was in clouds, the red lights were on and the fan blades were rotating through casting massive long red and black shadows. Eerie as all heck.
Looked like a scene from war of the worlds, but didn't work on camera.
I was impressed though.

This song by Miriram Makeba is very sad but at the same time uplifiting in that it was sung when she was in exile.

The long struggle led by people like her overthrew apartheid, only to see the whole nation struggling against economic adversity forced on them through the West.

Nevertheless it shows what persistance can achieve and it sends shivers down my spine to think, that at the time the clip was made, I was well entrenched on the other side!

I've got 2:

5 years ago sailing by myself on the bay, one of those days where you've got wind but no waves, dead flat. The boat was screaming along (ok maybe 5 or 6 knts:)), faster than it should have been anyhow. I was yelling my head off like a total idiot. I suppose you had to be there, as they say.

Last year: first time the kids saw snow.
Seeing the thermometer at Mt Buller indicate -3.

Chick in a Prius just cam out of a side street and hit just in front of the door post, jammed the wheel under the engine. It was only a **** box hyundai fortunately.

Hell of a lot of people saw it and all of them asked how the dog was!! I have never seen him frightened before but he was shaking like a leaf after it happened.

I had a similar one when I was a young bloke, rear ended a car in front. Last time I took my eyes off the road!

Good news GD - and definately all good

Have been in Bali (1st time) for the last week. Despite reading contrary it has been windy EVERY day and I didn't bring my kite gear as wifey's 40th/fam trip. Still brought the esky lid (I started kiting coz my shoulders have been cactus for years and lidding is like kissing ya sister - just not the same).
Anyhoo, checked out Balangan 2 days ago and had the best surf (well sister kiss) of my life. Probably not epic by Bali standards but epic for a metro Perf kid, over head hight - perfect line after line, good sized crowd but great vibe. All good!

Last chance for a sesh today at Balangan, fingers toes and nurries crossed it is half as good as the other day!

Kids super stoked at safari park too - geat to see the wonder on their faces at the tigers etc at close proximity. def all good!

Its all good! Sometimes things are not so good but if you look at the big picture then its definately better than "All good".

Took my youngest son (just about to turn 13) to Mt Buller last week, on a last minute 3 day ski trip. He snowboarding and me skiing. Booked lessons and being a 13 yo gung ho skateboarder he took to it like a fish to water. I found my feet and comfort zone with the new fangled parabolic skis and some good instruction. After the second days lesson we met up and I thought that I might just show the kid some of the nice black runs that I'd skied earlier. We took off down the run and the little bugger blasted past getting big air over the moguls and disappearing down the run. (don't they teach etiquette anymore). Waiting at the bottom he pronounced that "That was cool, but you are a bit slow" and then advised that he had made arrangements to meet up with some new mates at the board park and would "See me later back at the lodge"
On Friday he was booked on a JetStar flight to Townsville to meet up with his older brothers for a 4wd road trip across to Innaminca and down the Coopers Creek. After departing home with a time schedule allowing for check in 1 hour before departure, 1hr and fifteen minutes normal travel time and half and hour contingency, we hit the traffic jam on the Western Ring Road. That burned up 59 minutes and 30 seconds so in effect we arrived at check in with 30 seconds to spare before we made the airport television series. Of course as he was now checking in at the desk instead of at the self serve terminal and because he is not actually thirteen for another week he is travelling as an unaccompanied minor requiring photo ID and stat declarations from both parents that he is allowed to travel. Anyway we got that sorted without any of the documentation and he made the flight.

I have had that many mobile phones in my day that I now only buy the very cheapest prepaid handset ($30). However the last one was so crappy that it lasted less than six months and did not have predictive text so was difficult to use. The local supermarket only had the same one so I decided to go into the Telstra shop and get a slightly better one. While there I got talked into allowing them to "asses" and upgrade the business plans for 5 mobile services that my business uses. With the "savings" thus generated I foolishly decided to get a Telstra Tough T90 handset. Which is supposed to be pretty tough, splash resistant and has provision for an external antenae and next generation sim card which should come in handy for a forthcoming sailing cruise around Tasmania that I am preparing for. But bugger me if because I "upgraded" my services I received a recorded phone message advising how I could access Video Messaging. In the process of returning my phone to pocket it dropped from my hands, bounced 3 times on the concrete floor straight into a drip tray of oil. I cleaned it off but oil had clogged the mesh covering the micophone and speaker holes so I could not hear or be heard. Rang the chap from Telstra who had just signed up about $5k per year of mobile services a couple of hours earlier and suggested that as it was a direct result of Telstra calling me that resulted in my phone no longer being functional maybe they could see their way clear to offer a replacement.
Anyway I dismantled the phone and washed out the mesh bits with acetone and it works OK now but smells a bit like an oil refinery.

So its all good. Somethings might piss you off but look at the big picture. Its Better than All Good!

Noice frant.

Well to follow up on Balangan, 2 days later i went back (waaayyy too sore to go the day after the 1st sesh) and the swell ect was equal and as constant but as soon as i clocked the break from the steps leading down i knew something was diff.

A very angry ocean that day. On the way down the steps i chance a Brazilian bloke with his hand carved open and deep grazes on his gath helmet... Had a chat and noticed he seemed to be in mild shock... er.. onto the beach and pass a bloke in boardies with kn full on reef grazes ALL OVER his back that looked like aa flock of eagles had fancied him as lunch (seriously) Er...

Took a bit more time to suss the breakl and had a chat to a friendly Yarpie who worded me up on the change to the set-up.

At this point i wish i had kept at my swimming/cycling training which was going apples until 3 colds in a row prior to bali knocked the HTFU outta me.

Anyway, after 4 valiant (and long) attempts to get out, and ending up washed down the bay, by a super strong current, into the really dodgy rock section each time, i had to pull the pin as i was close to puking - no sh!t (no poo pun intended).

I felt very dissapointed at not quite making it out (was sooo close several times only to get cleaned up by a full set each time) but figured it was nature's way of telling me not to play with elements stronger than I on this day.

Took a posi on a lazyboy and scoped out the scantily clad beach babes frolicking directly in front (haven't travelled in 9 yrs and almost forgot how kn gorgeous fillys from other nations can be). Also had the only sun bathing sesh in 10 days in bali as way too much rellie, kids, other sh!te goin on for relaxing time.

Then I had enough time left to spend 30 mins checking out some of the action on the water (I never allow myself the luxury of doing this for surfing or kiting at home) and man, there were two dudes out there pushing each other harder each wave and without a doubt it was some of the best surfing I have ever seen live.

Kn awesome stuff and inspiring enough to ensure next time I get a chance for quality waves i will net let a month of hacking cough and snot balls hamper a proper preparation for a playground like this.

Lesson learnt.

All good.
