Another epic session in low wind today ! Rode the 8 and yes, it still has a place in the quiver. 25 degrees and ~10-12 knots SW. Heaps of slack lines and oh ** moments in shallow water but finished with a dry kite and Yeehaw memories.

Looks like you were at City Beach. I was at South City Dog Beach on my 8m soul. Great session, i was pretty powered by 4pm.
Do you ride the waves to where they're braking? I haven't the confidence as yet and pull off early, but I reckon yesterday there was enough water on the sandbank.
Hoping Santa brings my a 3m Peak for Xmas. Really looking to be able to de-power the kite when on a wave and just foil.
I have had the 3m and 5m for over six months.
For me at 90 kg on a 1125 cm2 wing I find the preferred wind range:
3m - 20 to 25 knots
5m - 12 to 16 knots
I am definitely buying a 8m for the 10 to 12 knot range. Also a 4m for the 16 to 20 knot range.

I'd agree with these wind ranges at 95kg and similar sized wing.
I was lucky enough to find a 4m secondhand, my 5/8/13 were all bought new.

unbroken ocean swells for me. not good enough to foil pitching waves but crumbling waves are fine.

Hahah, pitching waves are hairy!!! Having that foil come at you as you get sucked up is no picnic. This is why you see everyone ride so far in front of the zone of influence we tend to stay in as surfers. I keep wanting to get into that zone but it spells trouble every time. I have had to learn just to be happy with riding the unbroken part well ahead. Tricky biz....
Well I've put an order in for a 13 as well. Will give my impressions when I have first light wind session.
Apparently stock has been very scarce and 13s in particular have been out of stock at distributor level for the last month or so. Flysurfer has been struggling with P4 demand for the last 6 months...
If the peak 4 5m flies dry in 3 or 4knots, how much wind is required for the kite to fly in wet weather? (I mean heavy rain- the kite gets wet during set up).
Is single skin only a fine weather option?

4-5-6kts variable.My 108kgs on a 1200cm2 Armstrong wing and my floaty Carbonco light wind board.Big Bertha 13m P4 was Slow through the air to say the least but just enough to get me up and on foil in bugger all wind.
I reckon for my statistics that's the least wind I can manage on my skill level.
Its part of the quiver now.

Nice one Leigh! only had a beach fly with mine so far and I was leaving unlimited length heel tracks in measured 6kts gusting 8kts. So the power is there and I have to say I've never seen a kite sit so still when parked at the edge of the window. Rock solid. On the other hand I was able to get it to lose shape and crash by fully powering up then dropping the bar while running at the kite. In 6kts.
I have noticed how many kites you go through (love to try new kites and boards like some of us) so I suspect for you to say "it's part of the quiver now" is high praise indeed.

I was really wrapped in the 13mP4.First fly.
Cracka of a day.
Probably would have dragged me skidding on sand.
Sitting in post op now after having my left knee replacement in Grafton Base Hospital this morning.
Already up and walking without assistance at 2 pm.
So lucky to have Dr Sam Martin from Arrawarra near Coffs .
He is regarded as one of the best in Australia if not the world,huge wrap by the staff and me.
He's an absolute genius surgeon.
Its my third replacement Hip first four half years back, Right knee now Left Knee.
Anyway back to the P4 13m.
Belinda & I and a friend James who snapped a few shots to show his brother a foiling frother this amazing kite.Its slow but hey who cares.
maybe a slightly wider bar.
May try shorter lines.
It absolutely surprised the heck out of me.

Someone on the big forum said flysurfer emailed them and mentioned the soon to be released 6m size! Dammit that might be a compulsory purchase for me if it does like the 5m. 
G8 the 4m requires decent wind 15knts + for me on big foil 1570 cms2 at 70-72 pies.. Wishing had bought 5m 1/2 time.
Quiver 4 6& 8 nailed...
Trying 8m on 2400 cms2 tomorrow.. As low wind combo.. Be g8 or ejection hot seat...

Swapped 8m P4 for 4m due to forecast.. Experiment with massive front wing...
Take home 4m performed really well .. Most time well under powered.. Best bit of session was with gust front..

Rode my 4m today for the first time today. Foiling downwinder from City Beach to Sorrento SLSC (thanks Coastal Cruising) in 20-odd knots - green arrows. It's exactly what I'd hoped for - fast enough to fly one handed looping either direction and drifts like a mad thing when on a swell foiling straight at the lines at top speed. It's waaay more prone to stalling than the 5 - caught me out a few times but it's a great little kite. I think my Peak quiver is now complete for me at 92kg - 4/5/8/13.
Been using my 4m Peak4 as my main kite a lot lately. It only requires a couple of knots more than my 5m P4 to get my 65kg foiling.
As mentioned by jamesperth it's a one handed kite and very responsive with the phenomenal drift Peak4 kites are famed for.
As I have a 3m and 5m P4, there was some doubt whether it would overlap too much with either but it doesn't to any significant degree. It's a good fit between the 3m and 5m and for the first time Peak4 user it's less sensitive to sheeting than the 3m P4. Considering the low cost of these kites, they're a bargain to comfortably cover me from just under 10 knots to 25 knots with 3 kites

what Peak4 size should I try at 75kg on a surfboard, 18-25kn wind?
note that these conditions would mean a 6-7m LEI kite for me; I surf Perth beach breaks mainly

If you are doing downwinders then 4m is great.
If you want to stay at one spot then I would recommend another kite. Since there is a small window between comfortably going upwind on a surfboard with the peak and it becoming uncomfortable. (Would need a 5m for that windspeed range I would say and a efficient board)

what do you mean with "uncomfortable"? the kite flying deep in the window, or else?
in average, I do a mix of both, but perhaps 60-70% of the time I go in/out from the same spot. I saw a guy a few times doing downwinders on a 4/5m foil kite last season, and thought it was amazing :)

I use them for downwinding all the time. Its fantastic having the freedom to go in any direction on the wave. (When I use a pumpup kite again after a while, it falls out of the sky the first one or two waves until my riding style adapt to the limits of the kite again.)
I use the peaks foiling all the time, cannot fault them in that department. Have used them a good number times riding at the same spot with a surfboard, but usually prefer grabbing the pump up kite since it can handle more wind. If you misjudge the wind by a bit you might eother struggle to go upwind or need to hold on to a overpowered kite.
As i mentioned, with a surfboard the sweet spot is small where you can go upwind comfortably, but the kite is not unfcomfortable yet (with a foil or surfboard downwinding that window is very large). When the peak gets past its comfortable topend the bar pressure increases quickly. And the kite will flap a lot unless you have the bar pulled in using all the power.

When downwinding I would go for the 5m peak until around 21 knots and 4 until around 25 knots. They are still well comfortable with little to no flapping at those windspeeds. Powerwise you can think of the 5m peak as a 7m LEI, and the 4m as a 5 LEI.
You can give Action sports WA a shout. I think they might only have a 8m demo though, but who knows might have added a 5m as well. Anycase, these kites are silly cheap. If you foil as well, then it's a no brainer just order a 3, 4 and 5. All three is still way less than a normal foil kite. And I heard they have a bit of a wait time to them now, so even you don't like them I assume it would be easy to sell again to someone that does not want to wait.
Pardon my trolling in here, but I was hoping the P4 13m would be ideal for twin tips, with more power as being a lighter kite, but so far it seems no--- it's a crap kite for twin tip, looping, jumps (boosting at least), and unhooked tricks. It's a great kite for foilers of course. Am I wrong here?
