^^^^^^Good idea
Hey all, I have met this girl on the internet that lives in WA.
She says she is hot,
Her pic looks really hot but want to know it is actually a pic of her and not her cute sister.
Can someone in WA go check her for me before I book my plane ticket
Maxiy
Just letting you know that not all sellers are shonky @$$holes, better luck next time mate.
Wind up
Many opinions on a simple topic if you ask me.
1) buyer always has to beware, but I do not agree that you must see all kites before you buy, you just need to put more effort into due dilligence.
2) the above point notwithstanding, sellers have a responsibility not to deceive or plainly lie about a product. This is actually fraud.
If buyer asks enough questions and seller answers truthfully then there can be no misunderstandings.
For the record I have sold and bought a number of kites over the years and would expect an 08 kite to be in pretty good condition for $400. The one described would be unsellable IMO.
My recommendation for anyone buying a kite remotely is to get the answers to the following in writing:
1) are all parts original and genuine? if not detail all parts that are not original including surce and manufacturer of replacement parts.
2) Provide detail of all repairs, including close up photos of each, who did it and when.
3) Is there any non repaired damage to the kite (apart from normal wear), or non operable parts on the kite? if so provide close up photos and details.
4) Estimate how many times the kite has been flown by you. Plus in total if you are not the original owner.
5) How long have you owned the kite?
6) please advise on the condition of the lines and bridles and when they were last replaced?
7) does the bladder currently hold full inflation for at least 1hour? If not how long does it take to drop below 5psi?
8) are there any aspects of the kite that I as a buyer would want to know about prior to purchase that would effect my decision to buy the kite but you have not detailed in any of the above answers?
9) please confirm you are the lawfull owner of the kite
Anyone answering those questions properly will have a kite you want.
Thanks for posting that. Like I had mentioned earlier in the thread I place some of the blame on myself for being too casual with my purchase. You pointed out a number of things I would not have thought of. Very good advice and I will be following your points in the future for sure.
What a load of crap. The seller was misleading in his description and as such is an a###hole. He knew full well the kite was a peice of crap and was just hoping some poor schmuck would buy it. Anyone defending this guy either knows him, or is just as bad. "Buyer Beware" is just a cop out for the shonks out there. What about honesty and integrity?
Bad luck Maxiy. Hopefully karma will catch up with this grub.
Ive been thinking on this for some time now.
It was suggested here a while back by someone that shops should offer a kite check service.
Sounded like a minefield at first but Im thinking it may just help. A bit like an RAC check on a car. I wouldnt ever buy a 2nd hand vehicle without an RAC check.
At KSS we have a proforma check list we run & report on every aspect of every 2nd hand kite before we offer it for sale. Basically its a 2 part process. A pre-flight check and a full flight check.
The pre-flight includes a thorough inspection & measure of every feature of the kite. It also notes the condition and % wear of all the different parts as well as a minimum of a 1hr inflation check (usually 3hrs). It records any work needed to be done before we offer it for sale as safe & saleable as well as an estimate of parts & labour to carry out any repairs. It takes around 40 mins average - add a bit of extra time for keying it all in to a form & costing repairs & parts. etc. say a bit under an hr.
If you thought it was worth $50 we would be happy to do that - for either party.
A full flight check, which we also do on many of our trade-ins, which is all of the above plus a session on the kite would be out of the question $ wise.
Could just be a useful way I use the idea of an RAC check if Im buying a car.
I always ask the seller " Look Id like it checked out. I'll pay of course but can we organise and RAC check before I commit?"
Ive found those with vehicles they know may not rate will um & arr and/or make excuses why its not possible.
Great indicator to me that I should perhaps keep ringing around
Whatever - the offer is out there now.
