I bought a DynaBar rope slider which I haven't tried yet. What if any problems happen if you boost big with a rope slider ( I assume you set yourself for mid air rotation and a water slam)
Big jumps and big jumping transitions are my style of riding , when conditions are right I mix this with the waves, I hated the dyna bar just didn't feel right, moved too quickly across the body when doing moves , felt great the angles the kite pulled , for toe side and down the wave, but the rest was frustrating, passed it on to my kite buddy who solely rides waves at a very decent level and he hated it, but heaps of people swear by them, if you can try before you buy, or I can send you one with around four hrs use
Wow, how polarising! ^^^
I couldn't imagine kiting without mine!
Well actually I had to use my other harness without the dynabar a while back, I felt like my hips and waist were set in concrete.
Again, the best $150 I have spent on kiting gear.
Oh yeah, boost to the moon. Feels as it should.
Shouldnt cause any problems like that.Well not after the first few
The new Dyna Bars come with an optional centre hook lock if you do want to use this for boosting sessions but once you are used to the freedom boosting will be 2nd nature as well.New stock should be in at KSS by now for WA kiters.
I have had the Dynabar two seasons now and would never go back. Jumping is not a issue at all. I just bought a new one this year as I wore the other one out. I use it with a Mystic Warrior, but plan to get an Engine soon enough. I would never go back to a fixed harness unless all I rode was tt's or had conditions that allowed more unhooked wave riding.
... I'm with cauncy on this one,,, just couldn't get used to it and make friends with it, and yet most of my mates swear by them! Probably just set in my old ways!

Hips and waist set in concrete, exactly what you want if going big, exactly what you don't want if mainly wave riding, depends what your priority is, the dyna at was especially bad on change of body positions mid air during jumping transitions, think about it
What about the setting where the hook is fixed to the center of the spreasder bar, but can still move wround.?
Or the Dakine SB that only goes up n' down?
To help and remind that DYNABAR is designed to cover all the different kiter needs:
Fixed hook for freestyle and big air (more ride-up of the harness pad, more back stress)
Pivoting hook for freeride and big air (less ride-up of the harness pad, less back stress)
Sliding hook for freeride, wave riding, snowkiting, kitebuggy, kite foilboard (very low ride-up of the harness pad, very low back stress)
To move from one configuration to another takes 15 minutes.
About the initial question, when you jump using DYNABAR you don't feel a big difference unless you don't kiteloop;
if you are in the middle of a rotation the hook will be pulled on the side and you can lose body balance. The solution is to move 50% of the kite pull on your arms like if you are unhooked, this will help to rotate your body and control hook sliding.
We hope it will clarify the topic, but for sure if you try it you will never go back!
Go get one, 2nd season now and loving it.
Jumping never an issue, at the start you will feel a bit nervous but once used to it you should be very comfortable going big. The only time I get caught out is on my TT hitting a lip wrong for the boost but that's more rider error/timing than anything.
For SB riding hands down you will never need a fixed harness again.
I ride 50:50 mix TT/ SB and it's perfect for me

The only thing that helps me back was people who said it didn't fit the Dakine hooks... is that true?

What about doing backrolls?

That's not the direction I take while kiting, not enough butter flat where I live so have gone down the SB/waves route, cant help you there. If you tighten the rope a knot or two I don't see why not but if that's your style I'd stick with a "standard " harness
It's a wrong info, Our belt adapters are almost the same as Dakine.
Cool!
How far away are the V8s?
Hmmm the dilema... Just tried on the mystic warrior harness and loved it..ordered it trouble is it isn't compatible with my dynobar..oh we'll I'll figure it out

There's a video of a guyvusing a Dynabar on the 2014 Mystic Warrior on YouTube...

I use it on a Mystic Warrior so it should work. I can do back and frontrolls without any issue....same with kite loops.
oh ok... from what i saw thought the new mystic warrior had a plug in system instead of the hooked clip similar to daikine...
can you change this to the hooked clip?
Hey donger.
If it's got that buckle setup, you just need to buy the clip that suits the dynabar.
Then just loop this onto your harness. The clip is like $10 or something. I got mine from kitepower.
This is what I'm talking about... (mine doesn't have the red release bit)
Hey, rather than bring this post (www.seabreeze.com.au/forums/Kitesurfing/General/Sliding-Harness/?page=1) back to life I think i'll ask you guys.I would love to try a rope slider and im wondering why you are adding a carabina or pulley to the rope? Why not just feed the rope through the chicken loop? Im not un-hooking at this point so im not loosing anything there. The chicken loop seems to slide nicely along the rope by itself.Something like this, assume its all tied up and the rope length is adjusted. I only have this spreader bar but i think it should still work. It might snag a little on the hook as it slides over, but to just get a feel do you guys think it will work/ can you see any problems?Thank you
That's exactly what I did & then cut the hook off once I realized how much better the slider was than fixed.
Just get some spectra rope & tie it off with figure 8 knots.
Awesome, that's what i wanted to hear. Thanks again
Just choose better quality rope mate.
Just a ghetto alternative from the wave kiters here in California: look at Ian Alldredge. James Ropner too. And all us other punters. Saw the hook off. Make a rope across. Clip onto that, your done. Ian's Dad has the expensive Dyno Doodad but he has a real job. Look at Ians facebook. It's all very simple.
It takes about 6 waves to learn to adjust to the lag. Once you got it, you won't go back. Hack the hook off. So much more freedom.
I would think having the chicken loop directly sliding on the rope will cause the chicken loop to abrade and eventually break, which would be avoided by using the carabina .
