Dont think abrasion would be a problem Snail. It may not slide quite as easily but it doesnt really have to.Hadnt thought of it before but Im thinking now this may be a really good option.
The hook-in system with the Dyna Bar is about its only problem. I dont use the Dyna Bar when teaching as its simpler with a fixed hook - but if you lock in your CL ??? hmmm may just be a great idea.
Im going to try it asap.
I could imagine that over time with salt and sand and especially if the CL is moving quickly across the rope then yes, these types of rope can be super abrasive. You could always line the rope with a bit of old garden hose or something similar. Or just ride it a few times and check at the end of the day for abrasion.more testing required.
Hi guys, I just bought a dynabar but haven't been able to use it yet. For those of you that are using one, has the safety release on the dynabar ever caused you any greif. It looks to me like the safety pin with the red ball attached could easily be dislodged ? I was thinking of removing the safety pin and putting in a permanent fixed system ie reverting back to the normal safety option for a fixed hook harness. What do you think ? Thanks in advance.

Never been a bother, and never had cause to use it either.
I bought a DynaBar rope slider which I haven't tried yet. What ifany problems happen if you boost big with a rope slider ( I assume you set yourself for mid air rotation and a water slam)
Never had any issues boosting with the Dynabar, main problem I had when using the metal bar was the plastic slider would wear out.
Tried the rope and found it wasn't smooth when switching
Did some minor mods to the Dynabar, really smooth now and no wear issues.
I use the velcro pad over the bar, took it off for the picture.
I would think having the chicken loop directly sliding on the rope will cause the chicken loop to abrade and eventually break, which would be avoided by using the carabina .
True, but we toss all the QR/Chickenloop too, and run a small snap shackle. Ian's face book has some pics of the rig from a few years back. A carabiner is handy though.
