<<<PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT>>>

Pulled into the Cotton Tree carkpark today around midday and it was pretty busy.
As I pulled in a car was pulling out of a spot, a middle aged woman in front of me went to pull into the spot. As she does a car park warrior comes screaming down in reverse tooting his horn at the old lady. The lady continues into the spot. The man puts his Delica into park, jumps out and slams his door to give the lady an earful.

Wow I thought, this guy is raging...

Anyway, he hops back into his van and moves back to the centre of the carpark.

I do a couple of slow laps of the carpark trying to nab one, when on about my 4th lap a car pulls out right in front of me down the end of the carpark.

Yewwwww, I think. "That was lucky timing..."

As I'm pulling in the van comes screaming up the carpark and cuts me off. Only metres from hitting my car.

I 'explain' to him how appalling his behaviour is and how he can't just do that. His only response is "I'm a local..."

**** mate, I've lived my whole life here too and I don't just go putting other drivers at risk through carpark-stealing antics...

I am posting this so others know that if your kiting Cotton Tree look out for this van. This man is angry and doesn't have any decency... He flys an RPM and BWS Noise kite.

with that sort of behaviour, there'd be nothing worse (for him) than to come back & find four flat tires.....really glad despite the huge increase in ppl coming to Perth beaches things haven't got that bad yet....

Happened to me too in Freo about 20 years ago and I just let him have it and politely went up to him and said he had good looking panels on his car and left it at that.
He frantically took down my number plate but I wasn't going to touch it but he would have been sweating on it the whole time he was on his date in Freo hahahaaa

Yes it was a P_O trying to find a park - the caravan park charges for 2nd vehicles or does not let them in so it over flows at this time of year. I had done a 1/2 on verge effort - but lucked out when the car infront moved on - the driver told me the inspectors are anal about booking for minor infringements...so I missed a $100 fine by a whisker..

I have the odd chat with the Delica driver thru' the year and he is not my idea of a F- wit in fact mild mannered and good 4 a yarn so he must have lost it for a few minutes. He will likely apologise if U see him again.

But local or otherwise - not good to rage off especially at oldies so good on U 4 pointing it out.

Hope U had a good session.

In general with that number of kites in the river mouth area everyone deserves a pat on the back - saw some obvious sillies but keep with the chill pills - Sunday should be good but considerably windier.

hello surfingboye queue jumper.
It would be a pity to let the facts ruin a good story. I did not go screaming my car down the car park to abuse a lady. I had been waiting in the car park for a good 15 minutes before you or she had turned up. I explained this to her and she said that she and her husband were swapping cars as they were in the caravan park.
Yes, I claimed the next available spot when it presented itself as I'd been waiting the longest. I think you forgot to mention that you pulled in front of me and waited for a few minutes before that parking spot presented itself. I did not put anyone or anything at risk of injury.
Yes, it can be very frustrating at this time of year getting a parking spot, but if everyone waits their turn it should all be good.
I'm sure that if you had tried you queue jumping antics at the Myer sales you would have been bitch slapped pretty good.
Instead of putting a photo of my van you should put a photo of your foul mouthed little head for all the world to see - now that would be a public service announcement.

I think we should call this time of year Stressmass, just think of the future of the Sunny Coast when the the local population blows out to this amount of people in town all year round,it would be a interesting place,on say that had a great little sesh at Castaways on my own, pretty well stress free!

Are you from aus Maurie? Because I've never heard of a car park in this country where you can queue for the next available spot in the entire car park.

I feel your pain but mate the rule is who ever is closest and indicates first gets it. There is no ticket system like in a deli (perhaps dairy), it's more like a random game of duck duck goose.

You are not entitled because you are a local hahaha

Yep, That would be my take on it too. You drive round and round 'till you jag one. If you miss one you went past and the guy behind spots it and gets it - bad luck.

Yep - my usual trick for people parking in disabled spots without a disabled sticker is "it would be a shame if something was to happen to your car before you got back" and then just stand there.

Seems to have a 75% success rate of getting them to go back to their car and move it, but then again maybe that's because I look dodgier than they do...

then the dude gets a phone call from distraught missus saying their only daughter has just taken a fall and is suffering massive head injuries and to get to the hospital asap, no not asap immediately, and he drops everything, even leaving his kit where it sits on the beach and rushes to his car only to find all his tyres deflated... not even deflated; vandalised

his daughter dies , in her last incoherent ramblings asking for her daddy, he never makes it, his missus blames him, their lives fall apart because he wasn't there to say good bye, she leaves him and turns to heroin, he takes his own life with car exhaust in the very same carpark in which he was marooned..

but some asshole, somewhere, feels very smug with themselves and their petty self appointed authority..

if you were the bigger person, you see the dick move in the carpark for what it was, a move by a dick, and leave it at that

its' just a carpark

Doctor, have you read the kids book about a butterfly that flaps it's wings extra hard, which sets off a whole chain of events that results in a cyclone doing a lot of damage? It's a great story.

Everything you do has consequences.

So why, make a crap situation into a really crap situation. When you do not have to.

Well hope that dude is ok cause old mate on that pink waroo spudded in like a roof nail when he underestimated where the sand starts and water stops. It was kookey yet disturbing hearing his 90kg frame come to a sudden stop on his head.

Back on topic.. Seems you gotta pass an extra part on you drivers licence to own a Delica? We have a certain female who knocks around Perth who is mildly violent when it comes to parking her Delica..

Why be a tool in the carpark in the first place and risk someone else taking "action"?

Well, I think I'd better offer my 2c on this guy .. (if it is the same person)

I was at Cotton Tree for the last 2 days and saw him prance around in between everyone on his BWS kite. He was instructing someone else kiting.

The problem is that he really acted like he owned the place. He landed his kite almost on top of my girl's umbrella and would have damaged our camera gear onto the sand. My girl and her friend were not impressed with his antics and both girls mentioned to me that he was a bit of a 'ponce'.

Then later in the afternoon he kept bashing his kite on top of a girl that was learning, and when her boyfriend said something he simply gave them the finger.

Several people were chatting about his behaviour and we were not sure if he was an intructor or not. He was flying a BWS and teaching.. so everyone was wondering what BWS and JEEP were doing with such association.

But in saying this... there was a Jeep at the carpark with the Instruction school writing on the side. So we could be talking about 2 different people.

Regardless, the guy with the BWS kite prancing around - I don't care if you're a local, Mate !! And worse if you are.. you need your attitude adjusted because you are giving the sport a bad name.

Chill when you're in the water.. if your tricks are not coming off and you're smashing your kite at least try not to do it on someone else's backs. There were other kiters there and all were trying loops and smashing kites, so what? that's the sport. But I didn't see anyone get upset at them and we all had a good laugh.

We're all here for each other so don't go giving the finger to girls learning and follow the proper etiquette to launch and land out of beachgoers way. The beach belongs to all.

Now go get an ice cube from the freezer and read my post again. If you are offended by it please take time to consider why someone like me would write it. It is for your benefit so you 're-adjust' and re-enter society as a good nature kitesurfer - not designed to get your back up.

As I said, my 2c as a kiter and an observer..
