Hello guys,
My name is Dimitri Maramenides and lots of people have been asking me how I do all these tricks I do. Well hopefully this video will help you in becoming a better kiter.
This video is about HOW TO KITELOOP TO MEGAKITELOOP. All these videos are made to help you advance and reach your goal. So enjoy it and be careful.
Good vid, very helpfull.
Dont listen to the haters above having a dig, they spend most their time wearing sneaker on their little skim boards doing hard core kick flips lol.
At what point does kiteloop become megaloop? and when is it gigaloop?
It's a megaloop when it pulls you out of a mega barrel just before you get mega smashed
learn to loop the kite on the water first folks
or even better when flying a trainer kite
then try it 40 feet off the water
ps. Gigaloop would be one jump and then 9 loops before you land
i have always believed a kiteloop is just when the kite loops.
a megaloop is when the kite loops BELOW you
Given we all can loop stationary or without jumping,
I'd take a stab in the wild and say the line in the sand is drawn when you pendulum under your kite.
I think Aron Hadlow said his interpretation, is if you jump over 10m and the kite goes from 12 vertical... then sweeps down thru Horizontal...
wld like too see the ulimate kite loop move 4the public, maybe a mega multiple tweaked out s bend unhooked loops off a nice kicker ending way right or left of the crowd no dangle wow...

Good question sir ROWDY.
Kitelooping is one of the easiest tricks to do, but it's also one of the moves that you need to commit and need big balls or else you can get hurt very easy. So make sure to pull your back hand and don't stop pulling.
The reason I did this video is due to the big demand I was getting from kiters all over the world. Always asking me how I am able to do all these tricks.
So this video gives you the basic steps on how to start learning a Kiteloop and then proceed to a Megaloop to a Gigaloop.
Again you need to start with baby steps and learn few things such as: the timing on when to pull the bar, the feel of the pull of a kite loop plus how to land hot down wind. Then once you get use to these feelings start pushing your limits on going higher and higher, and bringing the kite to be bellow you. And remember the higher you go the longer you want to wait to pull that trigger.
Also remember the size of the kite and the length of the lines play a big role on Megaloop and Gigaloop. Because Megalooping is also when your kite is horizontal to your body or bellow you.
Usually I do my Megaloops on my SCREAMER 9 or RENEGADE 9. And do my Gigaloops on my SCREAMER 7 and RENEGADE 6.5
So to answer your question there is the "whaooo" effect that will make a Kiteloop become a Megaloop to a Gigaloop. Usualy Megaloop & Gigaloops is when your kite is at your level or bellow you. This is when you know you just did a Megaloop. But I will say that Megaloops are usually around 8 meters (27 feet) and above. This is when you can start having your kite bellow you or at the same level then your body.
And Gigaloop can be from 15 meters (50 feet) and higher. But then you can always add a front roll to grab or a back roll to grab or a board off to make it even more interesting.
Do you get a brown hoop doing a gigaloop
Sorry "cauncy", I don't understand your question? Maybe my 13 year old son Cameron Maramenides can answer that question.
This is him in action.

When you get a brown hoop
Hey Dimi. Hope you are well mate.
How come someone of your ability has never been in Red Bull King Of The Air.???
Is it because you don't have the backing of the "big names/brands" in the kite world?
It's not hard to see you placing somewhere on the podium, given the chance.
Guys - check out his son at 0:39. That's how you do it! COMMIT!
ps. Dimi, why do you say "push off". Isn't it Load 'n' Pop? And no, I cannot do it yet. Just asking

Hello Underoath and thank you for your post.
I use to compete a lot and this is one of the reasons why I made a name for myself and started my own kite company called EPICKITES.
I also did compete on few of the RED BULL KING OF THE AIR competitions and did very well, but that was a long time ago. Since then I started a kite company and it has been a lot of work running it.
Any way I was going to compete on 2015 RED BULL KING OF THE AIR in South Africa, but because of the politics they decided to remove me from the list. I guess they don't want to see a 48 year old man kicks some young blood.
Any way a lot of kiters know the story, because they all had my back.
This is the reason why I am training my 13 year old kid Cameron Maramenides. So he can be ready once he reaches 16 years old.

Hello DylanJamo.
Sorry English is my 4th language. Yes it is "Load" and "Pop". But you push off once you load going up wind. And it has to be fast.
4th language, unreal.
Let me guess!
Greek
Italian
French
English
And your 5th which will be the hardest is strayan :)

If you've shidt yourself
You'll have a brown hoop
I always understood that if you're touching the ground or water you can't really "kiteloop" your kite, you're meerly "downturning" it or at best "underlooping" it.
A "kiteloop" for me is any jump where your kite loops (as named by the first guys to do it Jeff Tobias etc.). These words on the front (i.e. mega) are meaningless as there is no clear depiction of height. Hence why you don't have "megabackmobes", "ultraraleys", etc, etc. What people claim as a "megaloop" now days is exactly the same as what a "kiteloop" was originally.
Personally I think it's a shame Dimitri can't get in the RKOTA, he's sic as.

Hi Dimitri
Thanks for posting this video,
After some nasty injuries and near misses I stopped trying to kite loop a couple of years ago
I didn't realise there were steps between down loop transition and kite loop
After watching this video yesterday I spent 3 hours on the water today and I was landing kite loop transitions by the end of the session and I'm ready for stage three
Thanks heaps
Joe

Hello psychojoe. I am very happy I was able to help you. Just remember once you commit you got to follow through or else you will get hurt AGAIN.
Be safe out there.
