I guess its because they can depower 100% by flagging the sail into the wind.

That's funny. ^^^

Someone who knows nothing about windsurfing and attempting to describe wavesailing technique in kitespeak.

lol.

The poler opposite of this ...^^

is when clueless crew on the pole-forum try to talk kite,

which is all too often strangely enough,

go figure ?

Your right. I know nothing of pole dancing technique. I just note that the pole dancer can or does seem to enjoy a more offshore angle than what a kite can..... I'm guessing its the additional depowerability. But feel free to enlighten me of the appropriate dancing technique.

Done both and yes I think you are right. It's the depower ability of the sail.
You are really surfing the wave on a large surfboard and powering up when you need to.
Usually you only use the sail to help re entering onto the face if needed for added speed.
With a kite you need to keep some wind in it all of the time to keep it in the air so you tend to be pulled off the wave more .
Some offshore in windsurfing is almost perfect for wavesailing.
Added to that is a greater abiltiy to track up wind on swell using apparent wind while returning to shore on an upwind tack when saying an offshore angle

Haha that's funny. as a 30 year poley and now tea bagger I can help a little with translation.
It's just sheeting out, same for a sail or a kite really, it's just a poley can totally sheet out with the boom when over powered where as a kite has a limited ability to sheet out without hitting the safety and complexly depowering the thing.

good thing this thread hasn't just turned into a bunch of people arguing and then got completely side tracked like most threads

This is what rowdy is talking about in film form. Progressive kite surfing. You don't have to be unhooked in every move or trick. Check the re entry at 1:27. It's about as much stylish damage as you can do to a wave. I think Keahi sums it all up by his performances on the water. Doesn't matter whether it's 1 or 10 foot, or what craft he is on, he's ripping with a smile on his face.

Exactly, Keahi kills it.

That Keahi video was great, it's been nice seeing the different stuff he can do over the years, his un-hooked riding is amazing.

Now that windsurfing has been included, from my early days pre kite.
I remember photo's of Craig Masonville (Hi Tech) wave sailing, big Hookipa without a harness.
Dont know what happened to him but he was a late 70's hell man.
